The Chevron Lace Infinity Scarf is the latest addition to my Chevron Lace series of patterns – which includes the Chevron Lace Wrap, and Chevron Lace Fingerless Mitts! The mitts are made with a great DK weight yarn – but there was lots left over. Enough to make the Chevron Lace Infinity Scarf! UPDATE: I’ve had the pattern tech edited, I’m sorry for all the initial trouble – it should be smooth sailing from here on out!
Disclaimer: This post includes affiliate links.
The Chevron Lace Infinity Scarf is on the shorter side as written – it’s a stash buster! Just long enough to wrap once, it’s easy enough to lengthen – or shorten – just add or subtract rows to your heart’s content. It’s alllllll good.

I love this!! I plan to make a rainbow one for a friend for Christmas. I would love to see a hat of some sort added to the mix… With the fingerless gloves and scarf/wrap, I can just imagine what a beautiful set it’d be!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you Emily! A hat would be fun!
moongril says
Oh this is beautiful and I have already added it to my library in Ravelry! Thank you!!

Hi Kathy! I got it from Paradise Fibers: http://www.paradisefibers.com/ 🙂
Patty says
Love the look of this so much that I put my other project down and started this one! Thank you!
But I need a bit of help, please. In order for Row 3 to come out properly I have 38 stitches and 5 chains not 36 stiches. I have worked the row several times and I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. I even drew out the directions to see where I might be off. Any suggestions?
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up later today! 🙂
Tammy says
Hi there! I LOVE this pattern, but seem to be stuck on row 3. It’s probably something I’m missing, but I’ve redone the row twice and keep getting stumped. I seem to be getting stuck at the repeat from * to **. It seems if I work this repeat I run out of stitches before I can finish. The wide dc2tog on the repeat seems to not align with the previous row. I’ve backtracked my work on row 3 and everything seems correct until that repeat. I’m sure it’s something I’m missing, but I can’t figure it out. Thanks so much!
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up today that will hopefully clarify things!
Tenessa says
I’ve had this same problem. After the turn, you should DC in the stitch then the space 4 times, the written instructions only indicate 3, but the only way for it to work is if you DC in the stitch then the space one more time. The chart shows the correct repetitions of this.
April says
Then on row 4 it says “Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1), dc in 1st st, *(ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1, wide dc2tog, (ch 1, skip 1, dc in the next st) 3 times, ch 1, skip 1” but the problem is when I get to the last part “ch 1, skip 1” there is no space to skip because the last double was in the last dc space.
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up today that will hopefully be easier to follow. 🙂
April says
Also, (sorry for all these comments but I”m trying to make sure I work this right) on round 4 should it have been dc 2, ch 3, dc 2 for the middle because in round 5 I seem to be a stitch short in imitating round 3.
April says
Never mind that last comment. Apparently I forgot a ch 1 in round 4 so that’s why I was short.
Oreanna says
Ohh I really want to make this and am trying I am just not very good at reading patterns I wish there were a few pictures or a video but it’s a great looking project anyways.
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up today! 🙂
Christine godwin says
I am starting to making this scarf as a Christmas Present as I leave this message can’t wait to finish it.
Jessica L says
Row 3 does not work out correctly with the chain 3 spaces. After you turn your work from row 2, the pattern seems backwards for row 3.
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up today that might be easier to follow. 🙂
Angela says
Thank you for all of the lovely patterns! When the description says that the scarf is 58″ long does that mean before it is connected into a loop or after? Thanks!
Tamara Kelly says
Hi Angela! That would be before it’s connected. 🙂
Diane G says
Thank you–this pattern is lovely and I’m off to see the other pieces!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you Diane!
Deb Petty says
I really love this pattern but the 3rd row has me confused ? I wish you had a video. Thank you!
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll try to make a chart eventually, but I’ll for sure get a chart up today! 🙂
Melissa says
I can’t get past row 2. Any chance the beginning of row 3 is wrong?
Tamara Kelly says
I’ll have a chart up later today! 🙂
leanne jones says
just stumbled upon your site trying to locate some late xmas gift patterns, stunning work! made up I found you xx
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you Leanne!
Stacey says
Hi! I love your patterns and am so excited for this scarf as I love Chevron patterns. I am having a little trouble with the directions though on row three. When you go through the pattern the second time around, when you start down from the peak, the first parenthesis says (dc in next ch sp, dc in next st) 3 times. If you skip the first dc after the peak, then the stitches don’t work out right for the wide dc2tog. In the chart you have, it goes in the next dc and works out right. I don’t know if you need to redo that row in the directions or what, but I noticed that someone else was having trouble with that row as well and just wanted to let you know what I saw. I love this pattern and can’t wait to finish my scarf 🙂 Thank you for all of your patterns! they are just lovely 🙂
Tamara Kelly says
Thanks Stacey! I’ll take another look at the instructions. When in doubt, follow the chart. 🙂
cindy says
I also love your patterns! But, I’m having a heck of a time with this one. I’m like everyone else, my problems begin at row 3. Ihave redone it 4 times and it doesn’t work out. I have looked at the chart. I have crocheted from the chart and it doesn’t work out. Please help us! Thanks.
Tamara Kelly says
Cindy I’m not sure what to tell you, the chart is correct, it’s exactly how I made mine. 🙁
Tammy says
I’m having the same problem Cindy in the same exact spot.
Tamara Kelly says
I will try to get a video up before the holidays.
Stacey says
Row 3 Should read:
Ch 4, DC in same stitch, DC in next 7sts, wide Dc, Dc in next 6 sts, (2Dc, ch3, 2Dc) in ch3 space, DC in next 6sts, wide DC, DC in next 7sts, (Dc, ch1, DC) in last stitch. Turn
Hope this helps!
🙂
Juli says
This solution worked for me! Thanks!
Laurie says
Thanks, your clarification saved me from giving up on this. It’s a nice pattern but written weird.
Marrie says
It would be even great if we make chevron arm-warmers too 🙂 We can have an awesome set of crochet CHEVRON series 😛
Thanks
Angela says
Thanks so much for the chart! And for all of your free patterns!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you Angela!
Kat says
I figured out the mistakes I was making and by just using the chart it is working up beautiful and pretty quickly! Initially, I misread something which only said ch1 sk1, then do the wide dc. I was putting an extra dc in there. LOL. Then, I think what was getting me were the two “extra” stitches on the end that you start your row out on. But once I got it I was golden! Thanks so much for the pattern!
Tamara Kelly says
Whew, glad it clicked for you Kat! Chevron patterns are so fun, but they are a bear to put into words – charts are always so much easier!
gina says
Love this pattern! I am a self taught crocheter, how can i shorten the width, is thst even possible?! Thanks so much. Keep posting these great patterns!
Tamara Kelly says
Thank you Gina! To shorten the width of this pattern you’d omit 11 sts – the repeat – and just go to the end of the row. You’d have just the one “point” then.
Mary says
Hi Tamara, would you consider doing videos of your patterns, I love them but I have trouble reading patterns, I do so much better at videos, I would love it!
Mary
Tamara Kelly says
Hi Mary! I do have videos of some of my patterns, and will add more as time allows. This one is definitely on the list! 🙂
Mary says
Great thanks so much, I can read, I just am new to crocheting and cant follow most patterns.
Mary
Kim says
I love this pattern. Thank you so much for sharing it. Is there a hat or slouchy hat pattern to go with it?
Tamara Kelly says
No hat for this one yet – I hope to design one though! 😀
kim says
I can’t wait! I’m making the scarf, and it has turned out so lovely, I went and bought another skein of the same yarn to make a hat with! I love your patterns!
brandi says
If making a blanket using this pattern, what do you chain multiples of?
Tamara Kelly says
mult of 20 +1 🙂
salwa says
thanks but i need a vedio
Tamara Kelly says
It’s on my to do list. 🙂
christine says
could you plz make a video tutorial for row 3 only
Tamara Kelly says
I hope to make a full stitch pattern tutorial soon. 🙂
Patricia Cuddeback says
I was searching for a chevron or zigzag scarf pattern and ran across this one of yours. I have been attempting to do a pattern that I already have and just cannot get it to work. Time to try a different one. Thanks so much.
Tamara Kelly says
🙂 I hope you enjoy it! Chevrons can be tricky for sure!
Fuego Azul says
This cowl is addicting to crochet! I’m making it with a lovely skein of KP’s Diadem – Argent, that was gifted to me. This beautiful silvery-grey isn’t too flattering for me to wear, so this lovely cowl will be going to a loved one as a gift. I love your patterns! Keep ’em coming. 😉
ALexandra says
Absolutely gorgeous pattern! Simple enough to memorize, but interesting enough to keep my attention and worked up quick. Beautiful!!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you so much!
Fiona says
This is a lovely pattern thank you. I’ve almost completed my first scarf. I used a 400m ball of double knit, so I will have a fair bit left on the skein. It would be enough to make a chevron beanie to match if you felt inclined to design one to complete the set 🙂
Tamara Kelly says
🙂 I hope to someday, thank you! Don’t miss the fingerless mitts, that pattern is already out! 😉
Christina says
I want badly to make this beautiful scarf! But I’ve been trying to get past 4 rows and it’s just not working out for me. I don’t know what keeps happening but I end up short and just wind up pulling out row 3 and 4 over and over. I check and double check, my stitches are correct and I haven’t missed anything. Even following the chart. The way it is written just seems to be a bit confusing. Just can’t get row 4 finished with the right count :/
Tamara Kelly says
I’m sorry you’re having trouble Christina, I’ve had it tech edited and made both the chart and video tutorial, I’m not sure what else I can do without being there in person.
kimberly says
Hi, first, thank you for your wonderful pattern; i love the scarf! I have watched your video and read the pattern and chart but they differ. In the pattern, you state we are to repeat rows 3 and 4 throughout but in your video, you state we are to repeats row 2 and 3 throughout so I am confused at which is correct. Also, if the video is correct and it is rows 2 and 3 that repeat, does that make row 4 obsolete? Thank you for your response in advance, Kim
Tamara Kelly says
You’re welcome! 2 and 4 are really the same, it’s just that 2 is worked into the sc row, while is worked into a dc row, well into the pattern.
Laurie Engels says
Love all your patterns. For some reason I am just coming across this one, and its another keeper. Going to make a few Christmas gifts and this will be one of them.
Thanks Tamara, for sharing your talents with us!!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you so much Laurie!
Kim says
I just made this for my 10 yo daughter and it turned out beautifully. I’m about to do another for a family friend. Hopefully it’s done before Christmas! 😉
Thanks for the pattern!
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you Kim!
Samantha says
Thank you for the lovely pattern! I have to admit I’m confused, however- I don’t understand what a wide double crochet is or how to do it. Google isn’t being very helpful and I’m so lost. Thanks!
Tamara Kelly says
Hi Samantha! It’s a special stitch, defined in the notes at the beginning of the pattern. 🙂
Alison Thyen says
How would i use this pattern to make a small baby blanket?
shelly farmer says
Hello!
Love your site! Any idea how this and the Snow Drops Reversible Cowl would work up in a Worsted weight yarn? I have some Vanna’s Choice to use up but not sure if the end result would be too “stiff”
Thanks!
Tamara Kelly says
Thank you! I would use a bigger hook for thicker yarns, that should take care of the stiffness! 🙂
Louise says
Hi Tamara.
Can I just firstly say a big THANK YOU for setting up this blog. I am a fairly new crocheter and very unsure of myself. This was the second blog I found that was all about crochet and I have been a fan ever since, it is joint favourite. I am disabled and don’t go out very often so your site and the fantastic patterns have helped keep me sane.
I was wondering if there was one of your famous hats to match the chevron set, I have seen the gloves, the scarf andcthe wrap but I can’t find the hat which would be unusual for you not to create one. Could you please let me know where I can find it.
Yours in faithfully and loyaly
Louise Edwards xxx
Tamara Kelly says
Thank you Louise! I’m so glad to hear it!
I’m afraid there is not a hat for this set – at least not yet! 🙂 Perhaps in the future!
Liz says
Hi! Trying out this pattern for the first time. A little problem I had with Row 3, When it says ” *(dc in next st, dc in next ch sp) twice ” It doesn’t add up to do the wide 2dctog then. I realized I needed to do 1 dc in ch, 1 dc in next st, one more time. The graph helped me solve this problem. But my recommendation is to add “more” after saying twice so “(dc in next st, dc in next ch sp) twice more.” Because I believe you need to do this 3 times total. I like the pattern and your blog! I also live in Iowa and looking to set up a crochet business. Thanks for the inspiration.
Tamara Kelly says
Thanks so much Liz!
Whitneigh says
I’m fairly new at crocheting, so could I start with a normal chain instead of the chain less foundation? I don’t know how to do it. Beautiful pattern by the way!
Whitneigh says
Nevermind, I just found the alternative start.
Tamara Kelly says
😀 Thank you so much Whitneigh!
mandy says
I LOVE this pattern! Thank you so much for sharing it! I do have a couple recommendations for the written part as it became confusing to me until I looked at the chart…
For Row 3, in order to get the correct amount of stitches you need to *(dc in next st, dc in next ch sp) THRICE not twice and then just omit the “dc in next st, dc in next ch sp” part right before where it says “repeat”. Doing that works out all the stitches properly.
Then for Row 4, move the asterisk back toright here instead: “Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as dc and *ch 1)” and add a note that says on your second time around you will need to repeat (ch 1, skip 1, dc in next st) only 2 more times instead of 3 times.
Doing that has given me the correct amount of stitches so that the scarf matches the chart. I hope that is helpful for anyone who has questions 🙂
Tamara Kelly says
Hi Mandy! And thank you! I’ve had this one professionally tech edited, but if anyone else is confused hopefully your notes will help!
Kelly says
I made a hat using this pattern and part of the matching fingerless glove pattern if you would like to see it. I have noticed alot of people asking for a hat to make a complete set
Tamara Kelly says
I’d love to! 🙂
Swati Prasad Siddharth says
Hi. Can you tell me how long the scarf should be please to go twice around an adult neck? I don’t have one of my own to judge! And this is the first time I’m making one.
Also, after finishing can I please post it on my own blog giving you credit and linking to this page?
Thank you.
Regards.
Tamara Kelly says
Hello Swati!
Please do post a photo and link to the pattern, thank you! 🙂
This pattern is shown twice around the neck in one of the photos above, at 58″ long. If you’d like to make it longer, up to 70″ is usually good – it’s just about how you like to wear them. 🙂
