Edging: Ch 1, sc evenly around right side of headband; join to first sc with a sl st, break and finish off.
Assembly: Fold tabs at each end over elastic hairband, and sew the tabs down with leftover tails of yarn. If possible, try the headband on before sewing permanently, to check the fit, as hair band sizes/elasticity vary.
And that’s it for the Warm Cabled Headband! The use of a hair band instead of a button or ties makes it easier to wear – and you don’t end up tying your hair up in it! You can wear it behind your ears all day as a fashion hairband, and then slip it over your ears when you head out into the chill. I hope you enjoy this free crochet headband / ear warmer pattern!

Thinking about making this for a last-minute Christmas present for my niece. What size is your daughter modeling in the picture?
Tamara Kelly
The largest! She’s 14 and it’s a touch big. 🙂
Erica
This is beautiful, Tamara! I may very well try this as my first cabled project. Thank you for the pattern!

Deborah
what a brilliant idea with the hairband!!!
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thank you, I’m so glad you like it!
Jan
I actually like to stitch the tabs in another color yarn, so if the hairband breaks and needs to be replaced, the yarn can easily be seen!
