    Sharp Crochet Hook Review & Giveaway!

    Published: Oct 31, 2013 · Modified: Jun 26, 2018 by Tamara Kelly · 305 Comments

    Congratulations to Kris R! Be sure to visit SharpCrochetHook.com to order your own Sharp Crochet Hook and Pattern Book!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Recently I received a Sharp Crochet Hook and Pattern book - and I was thrilled! It's a whole new way to marry fabric and yarn, and now I get to share!Sharp Crochet Hook Giveaway! Win your very own Sharp #Crochet Hook and pattern book! Giveaway ends 11/05/13 at 12am Eastern.
    The Sharp Crochet Hook is a fun crochet tool that would be an asset to any crocheter! Much like a steel thread hook, it's tiny. But it also has a special tip and patent pending design that allows it to glide through fabric. It comes with a pattern book, which includes 18 different crochet patterns try your hook on. You can see four of the patterns on the cover, and there are also patterns for shoes, gloves, boot cuffs, and more.
    To try the hook out myself, I designed a crochet pattern  - the Rainbow Happy Fun Pouch! I used the Sharp Crochet Hook to add a zipper without any sewing - love that! There is a method of installing the zipper inside the pattern book, where they suggest crocheting an edge on the zipper and then crocheting that to your project.
    I took a different tack - applying the zipper right to the project with Surface Crochet stitches! It worked really well, but took a bit of practice to get the stitches even. I'd recommend practicing on a swatch to get the hang of it, no matter which method you choose to use.
    I can certainly see using the Sharp Crochet Hook in the future for projects like this!. There's a sandal pattern in the book that uses the hook to crochet onto a pair of leather soles - how great would it be to make a leather bottomed crochet bag! Lots of inspiration here. And now you can win your very own!
    The Sharp Crochet Hook and Pattern Book giveaway is open to international entries. The entry period for this giveaway ends November 5th, 2013 at 12AM Eastern. The prize will be mailed by the sponsor, SharpCrochetHook.com.
      Very nice! I wonder if this would help when adding lining to a purse so I don't have to sew it in.
        It would definitely help! I crocheted a bag that had an openwork design and used that technique to "sew" in a solid fabric panel. I didn't have the sharp crochet hook however, and had to use a small pair of scissors to poke a hole through the fabric, but same idea.
      I saw the Sharp hook at Joann's Fabrics and wondered why buy it. After reading your pattern, I now know this is a hook I should buy. Using the hook, is much easier than needle and thread. Since I like making handbags, using this hook definitely would make it easier to add zippers. Thanks for creating this pattern, using the Sharp hook.
        Oh I'm so glad to hear from you! Whew! 😀 Though not glad you've been in the hospital! Hope you're feeling much better!
      A friend ordered this for me. The hook is way to small to do any yarn. Good for thin tread. My Harold made one for me with a larger hook. I took old metal hook and he filed it to a point with fine surface file and that worked great. Careful on the size of metal hook because it can make the hole in the material to big..
