    My Sunshine Baby Hats

    Published: Jul 2, 2015 · Modified: Mar 15, 2017 by Tamara Kelly · 16 Comments

Recently I learned about Willow Yarns - and found many of their yarns to love! One of the ones that caught my eye inspired the My Sunshine Baby Hats - a pair of free crochet patterns. Pick your favorite or make them both - it's up to you... one skein makes two hats!

My Sunshine Baby Hats - super cute newborn-3 month size hat pattern on Moogly!Disclaimer: This post includes an affiliate link.

The Willow Dappled yarn is a fingering weight, but the texture and twist means that pairing it with a larger hook gave me a pair of very light, summer weight hats that aren't overly lacy. Be sure to check your gauge, particularly if you crochet loosely or use a different weight of yarn - you might need to use a different hook size!

I haven't started buying yarn online yet. Do you have any suggestions for substitutions that are found easily in a store (Lion Brand, Patons, Bernat, etc)?

I would just pick one of the baby yarns, or something with a "1" or "2" yarn symbol on it. 🙂

I'm envious of the baby who gets to wear this! Am I completely shallow by asking how to make one 'big kid' sized? (Like me-sized? 🙂 )

Thank you for sharing your patterns! I've made a number of scarves and hats using your ideas. Your easy-going style builds confidence in this hesitant 'fiber-crafter'.

Hi Levi! 😀 Thank you so much!!! To make it adult size is really pretty easy - just make a plain crochet adult size hat and add the special rows to it - in the first version Rounds 5 and 6, in version 2 it would be Rounds 13 and 14. You'll have more "rays" of course, but it's easy enough! 🙂

Thank you so much for such a lovely pattern, Can I use cotton yarn to make it for summer? What size of hook I'll need for that, as I crochet very tight side and a beginner....
      Thanks!

Thank you Ashi! If you use the same yarn weight you shouldn't have to change hook sizes.
