Part of the MooglyCAL2021
The Moogly Crochet Along is an annual event featuring 24 squares by 24 different designers. In the end, they all come together to make a unique afghan - it's always an adventure and a surprise! This year, I decided to design one of the squares myself - CLICK HERE to learn more and get all caught up. This is a very casual CAL that's been running for several years now, so it's never too late to jump on in!
Red Heart With Love = Family Blankets
I designed this square using Red Heart With Love, because it's the official yarn of the MooglyCAL2021. And the reason it's the official yarn is that it comes in tons of colors. But even more importantly, it's super easy to care for and family (and pet) friendly - and therefore great for gifting too!
Another New Take on a Classic Stitch Pattern
I recently designed the Striped Hourglass Area Rug, and had a lot of fun playing with the color changes to get a bold rainbow look. For the Striped Hourglass Square, I've re-worked this stitch pattern yet again - and I have even more ideas to come!

Striped Hourglass Area Rug Tutorial - This is the stitch pattern worked with only 2 colors.
Join with sc (standing single crochet)
NOTE:
This pattern is worked in one row stripes. To achieve this, the main color keeps an "active loop" that is left and picked up repeatedly - be sure to secure the unused active loop with a stitch marker when working with the other color.
Additionally, you will only turn your work every two rows - be sure to read end of each row of instruction carefully.
When you make a post stitch, skip the sc stitch behind it - this maintains the st count for the row.
To make in one color:
Do not break yarn.
Turn at the end of every row.
Ch 1 to start every row.
Work all post sts as fp sts.
INSTRUCTIONS:
