I love the Cobblestone Stitch – it’s easy enough for beginners, using only the basic stitches, but it’s also fun to crochet and creates great movement when worked in 2 or more colors! Here’s how to crochet the Cobblestone Stitch Pattern.

Parkway Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern
I used the Cobblestone Stitch pattern in the Parkway Scarf – a free crochet pattern here on Moogly! It really showed off the yarn beautifully, and you can see more of it in the videos above.
The Cobblestone Stitch Pattern uses a multiple of 3 +2, and is best shown off in multiple colors – though of course, you can use just one if you like. Within the Parkway Scarf pattern, you’ll find specific written instructions, but the basics of this stitch pattern are:
Row 1: After chaining to desired length based on the above multiple, (sc, hdc, dc) in the 2nd ch from the hook, *skip 2 chs, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch; rep from * across until 3 chs rem, skip the next 2 chs, sc in the last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, dc) in the 1st st, *skip 2 sts, (sc, hdc, dc) in the next sc; rep from * across until 3 sts rem, skip the next 2 sts, sc in the last st, turn.
Repeat Row 2 as desired.
And that’s all there is to it – if you can sc, hdc, dc, and skip stitches, you should be ready to master the Cobblestone Stitch Pattern! I hope you’ve enjoyed this crochet tutorial! Here is a Pin to save it to your crochet stitches Pinterest Board:

When alternate colored are used for each row is the yarn cut and started again? What happens to all the ends?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Sally! For the scarf pattern please see https://www.mooglyblog.com/parkway-scarf/
Orchid
Thank you so, so much for the tutorial! Been looking for a “warm and cozy” stitch to learn as of late. 🙂 I’ve incorporated Cobblestone Stitch into a miniature blanket with fringe for my “little friends.” Hope it’s alright to share: http://crochetbuddies.com/wrens-cobblestone-stitch-blanket-and-holiday-dress/
Thanks again!! Looking forward to learning more crochet stitches!

I love it Orchid, thank you so much for the link! 😀

I love all of your tutorials, thank you. I love the cobblestone stitch scarf. I am using white with light grey and I do not want fringes. I am missing something. I cannot see any way to crochet a scarf without cutting the ends after each row. If I do one row of white then a row of grey yarn ends on the left and the white is on the right. What am I missing?. Thank you for your response.
Tamara Kelly
Hi Esther! You’re not missing anything – you have to either cut the yarn, or crochet over the unused yarn every row to get it back to the correct side for the next time it’s used.
Esther
Thank you for your reply Tamara. I must have been tired. I was just so excited at the thought of not cutting ends that I couldn’t think straight. I have started another project, and as soon as it is finished I will get back to the cobblestone it is such a lovely soft looking stitch. I am not usually that stupid. I think I will try it but start with FSC or FHDC what are your thoughts?
Tamara Kelly
Oh it’s not stupid at all – it was a great question! 🙂 I’m always trying to figure out ways to get around patterns where you have to cut the yarn – this time, I just decided to go with it. 😉 I think you could start with a row of FSC and then you wouldn’t have to go back to add the edging on that side! Smart!
Esther
Thanks Tamara, appreciate your input will send a pic when done.. Look forward to more of your posts. Regards
