The Parkway Scarf is pretty, cozy, and just a little luxurious - and the *perfect* pattern for people who hate weaving in ends! And it's a free crochet pattern here on Moogly!

Ooo... Alpaca!
I loved crocheting the Parkway Scarf using the beautiful new Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca! And not having any sewing or weaving in of ends was a big bonus - and led to this great touch of fringe. The Cobblestone stitch is what's used for this pattern, and it's ideal for showing off this yarn - and I have a video tutorial for it coming very soon!
You can use standard size balls of Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca to make the Parkway Scarf, or you can use the Bonus Bundle size - the instructions include the amounts for each. Use two colors, or more - without the ends to worry about, you can use as many colors as you like! You can find Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundles at Michaels, Michaels.com, and LionBrand.com!
While I chose to turn my Parkway Scarf into an infinity scarf, you can also leave it "open" or straight if preferred - it's just one less step, and instructions are included for both versions below.
Parkway Scarf
Add this pattern to your Ravelry Queue and Favorites
US - N, 9mm hook - Furls Crochet
830 yds Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundle (Worsted/Aran/"4" Medium/UK: 10-12 ply; 415 yds/380 m; 7 oz)
Color A: Cream (1 ball)
Color B: Blush (1 ball)
OR
830 yds Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca (Worsted/Aran/"4" Medium/UK: 10-12 ply; 207 yds/190 m; 3.5 oz)
Color A: Cream (2 balls)
Color B: Blush (2 balls)
Gauge: 3 reps (9 sts) x 10 rows = 4 in / 10 cm in pattern
Size: 10" wide x 60" long (not including fringe)
Stitch multiple: mult of 3, +2 (pattern is worked end to end)

SUPER IMPORTANT NOTES TO READ BEFORE YOU CROCHET:
Leave a 10-12" tail at the beginning and end of each row - this will become the fringe.
Switch colors every row, and cut the yarn after every row.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Stop and read the Super Important Notes above! Then...
Row 1: With Color A, ch 143, skip the ch closest to the hook, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch, *skip 2 chs, (sc, hdc, dc) in next ch; rep from * across until 3 chs rem, skip next 2 chs, sc in last ch, turn, break Color A. (47 sc-hdc-dc reps)
Row 2: With Color B, join to first st with sc, (hdc, dc) in same st, *skip next 2 sts, (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc; rep from * across until 3 sts rem, skip next 2 sts, sc in last st, turn, break Color B. (47 sc-hdc-dc reps)
Row 3 - 23: Repeat Row 2 changing colors every row.
Assembly for the Straight Scarf Version:
Step 1: With the desired color, sc evenly along the last row of the scarf and the foundation chain, leaving long tails at the beginning and end to become part of the fringe.
Step 2: Trim fringe to 8" or desired length.
Assembly for the Infinity Scarf Version (shown):
Tie the ends of each row together with a double knot, up against the rows themselves.
With desired color (Color A shown), sc evenly around top and bottom of the scarf, leaving long tails at the beginning and end to become part of the fringe.
Trim fringe to 8" or desired length.
And that's all there is to the Parkway Scarf - I hope you enjoy making it, whichever version you choose! You can also try tucking the fringe in for another look (or I suppose you could weave in the ends.... if you must... 😉 ).

I'm interested to know if anyone has made it in a single color instead of switching colors. I have a beautiful multi colored yarn that I'd love to try this project with. Of course that would mean that I wouldn't switch after each row so I wouldn't have the tassels.

Hi Cindy! There aren't any on Ravelry yet and I can't recall seeing one, but I think it would be very pretty! You could still cut the yarn if you wanted the fringe, but of course you wouldn't need to! 🙂
