The Christmas Tree Door Basket is quick to stitch, and even faster to assemble! Once you've whipped up the tree, fill it with your favorite holiday bits and bobs - and if you're adventurous, add lighting!
Filled with a half-foam ball stuffed with decor from the floral section, the Christmas Tree Door Basket is a fun and festive celebration of the holiday that you can whip up in an afternoon. Perfect for door decor - and those whose pets don't allow full-sized trees!

120 yds Bernat Blanket (6-Super Bulky; 300 g/10.5 oz)

Ashland LED String Lights - 4.7 ft - purchased at Michaels, requires batteries
All Other Floral Notions and Gifts - purchased at Michaels
Thin plastic bag (grocery store bag)
Tape (whatever is handy and sticky)
Gauge: 8 sts = 4" in pattern
Finished Size: 11" tall unfilled

Special Stitch:
LLDC - Lower Linked Double Crochet: Insert hook in left front loop in bottom half of previous stitch, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, [yo and pull through 2 loops] twice.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Rnd 1: Make a magic circle, work 6 dc into the ring; join with a sl st. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: (CSDC, LLDC) in first st, LLDC in next st, [2 LLDC in next st, LLDC in next st] twice; join. (9 sts)
Rnd 3: CSDC in first st, LLDC in next st, 2 LLDC in next st, [LLDC in next 2 sts, 2 LLDC in next st] twice; join. (12 sts)
Rnd 4: (CSDC, LLDC) in first st, LLDC in next 3 sts, [2 LLDC in next st, LLDC in next 3 sts] twice; join. (15 sts)
Rnd 5: CSDC in first st, LLDC in next 3 sts, 2 LLDC in next st, [LLDC in next 4 sts, 2 LLDC in next st] twice; join. (18 sts)
Rnd 6: (CSDC, LLDC) in first st, LLDC in next 5 sts, [2 LLDC in next st, LLDC in next 5 sts] twice; join. (21 sts)

Rnd 13 (hanging loop plus final edging): Ch 6 or to desired length for hanging loop, sl st in first st, ch 1, twisted sc in each st around, twisted sc in same st as sl st; break and join yarn to first st.
Assembly:
1: Line the Tree with the plastic bag (optional). This creates a weatherproof barrier to protect the Fiberfill from moisture and escaping through the stitches.
2: Fill the bottom ⅔rds of the Tree, inside the bag, with Fiberfill.
3: Insert the foam half Ball into the top of the basket, flat side up. Secure in place using U Shaped Pins, going through the Tree into the Ball. TIP: Spread the tines of the pins apart, then pinch them right before inserting them to help them stay better!
4: Add lights (optional). Insert batteries into lights. Secure the end of the lights to the point of the tree, then wind around the Tree toward the Ball, and secure the battery pack to the ball using tape. Make sure to locate the switch near the edge so it is accessible.
5: Add floral and decorative notions as desired! Do your best to cover both the foam Ball and the battery pack from the lights.
6: Hang and enjoy!
