Above, you can see the square that Nicki made in 2 colors! Below is my CAL square, in my 5 colors of Red Heart With Love - Merlot, Mallard, Boysenberry, Cornsilk, and Black.
Details for MooglyCAL2025 Block 19
My Notes: The Brick Mosaic Crochet Afghan Square is such a great introduction to overlay crochet - and mosaic crochet in the round! With this sort of pattern, you're going to get all different looks with everyone's color choices, and I can't wait to see! Be sure to read through Nicki's notes before you begin, there is a lot of really important info you'll need before you stitch.
Helpful Links and Tutorials: Crochet Abbreviations, Magic Circle, FLO and BLO - Front Loop Only and Back Loop Only, and seamless join.
Sizing: I got to 12" after Rnd 18, so I omitted Rnds 19 and 20. But everyone's gauge is different, so be sure to measure as you go! Learn how to adjust for size HERE to ensure all your squares are the same size. Remember that the 12″ is measured across and up and down, not diagonally/corner to corner.
What I Did:
I used a Susan Bates US-J, 6.0 mm Twist and Lock hook, and Red Heart With Love, and my color scheme was as follows (see pics for more info on placement):
All B/Even Numbered Rnds: Black
Rnds 1, 3, and 5: Cornsilk
Rnds 7 and 9: Boysenberry
Rnds 11, 13, and 15: Mallard
Rnd 17: Merlot
Rnds 19 and 20 were skipped for size.
This square barely required a mild blocking, so I used the wet blocking method
