The moment I saw it, I fell in love with the Tree of Life afghan. The charts that are provided with the pattern will make it so easy to work up. I can't wait to get started on it.

It's an amazing pattern! 😀

I have started this a few weeks ago as my first real knitting project (I learned over three holidays). Turns out it is quite complicated. Should have stuck to crochet!

These are beautiful!!! I might just make one for my great-nephew! (I still can't believe I'm in my 30s and I'm a great-aunt!)
For loose ends, I find it easiest to crochet them in the next round so I don't have to sew them all in later.

Love the Celtic Afghan Blanket. Will be making it for my son for Christmas.

These Afghans are all SOOOOO beautiful I want to make one of each. Great job to all.

😀 I'm so glad you like them Ginger!

I have made the Mayflower blanket in a lovey size - 18x18". It was beautiful! The different stitches made it look so neat. I made it in Bernat Softee Baby in Pink. 🙂
I've also made the Fluffy Meringue Blanket - though not the whole blanket - just enough to make a potholder! 🙂 Makes a unique potholder - courtesy to someone else for the idea. 😉 Ironically, it went to the Mom of the baby who got the Mayflower blanket! 🙂 I used Handicrafter Off White cotton for it.
I love texture too! So fun to play with. 🙂
Tamara Kelly
Oh what a fun idea! 😀 Thanks Leanne!

I made one of Priscilla Hewitt's Matelasse afghans (not the one pictured) in queen size for my bed. It turned out beautifully and only took me three months! I'm currently working on one of her circular baby blankets. The texture really does keep it interesting.
Tamara Kelly
She has an amazing body of work, and that line is particularly beautiful! 😀

I actually have a tree of life afghan about 3/4 done that will be a gift to my in-laws! I absolutely love it 🙂
Thanks for sharing these. A few of them i haven't seen before and will have to try!
Tamara Kelly
Mine is at about the same place Dai! 😀

Have tried to print out the pattern for the Circle of Love Afghan. Every time I print I get the advertisements printing over the pattern. Have also tried downloading it to a PDF file with no success. Don't understand what I am doing wrong. Why it won't work. Would love to try to make the afghan but cannot read the first 7 pages of the pattern.
Tamara Kelly
Hi Alice, I'm sorry you're having trouble! I think this link might help: Click here

The link helped me to get the pattern. Thank you very much. Will be looking forward to making the afghan.

I am almost finished with my version of the Fluffy Meringue blanket. Every other row I crocheted a small pearl bead into the second chain of the picot stitch. It is so adorable in a girly nautical theme of colors in a light yellowish-beige, aqua, navy and pink! 🙂
Tamara Kelly
Ooo, sounds lovely Renae!

Hi Tamara,
I'm working on the Celtic afghan (which I found on Ravelry), and was searching your blog for a tutorial to help me with the cable pattern 3 (requires working behind stitches into skipped stitches). I have been unsuccessful, and believe you provide the best tutorials I've ever seen. Do you have one, or are you interested in creating one? 🙂
Tamara Kelly
Hi Sonya! Thank you!
I looked, but I guess I don't have a video showing that particular move! It's basically a matter of pulling your previous fptr stitches forward, and then inserting the hook between those fptr and the rest of the fabric to work around the skipped stitches. It's fiddly for sure! I'll talk to Lion Brand about doing a tutorial for this pattern. 🙂
Sonya
Thanks!

Hi! I wanted to try the Celtic Afghan, but I have different yarn: Red Heart with Love in a bunch of different colors. First, would Red Heart with Love yarn work? I think it is type 4-Medium, which is also what Vanna's Choice yarn is. Also, would using various colors, for an ombre pattern, work for this type of blanket or would it look odd?
Thank you!
Tamara Kelly
I think that would be a great yarn substitution! As for the colors, it would certainly be different, but could be very cool too!
Kirsten
Thank you! Sorry, one other question: do you have an idea about how many rows there would be for 59.5 inches for this blanket? Just so I can do an equal number of rows per color.
Thank you again.
Kirsten
Thanks! Sorry, one more quick question: about how many rows would you say this would make at 59.5 inches? If I use different colors I'll want to make sure I use the same number of rows per color. Thank you again.
