Black and White and Cozy All Over
Inspired by the traditional Yin-Yang symbol (and my daughter's two cats), this pet bed looks great in any two colors - you don't have to stick to just black and white! This cat and dog bed features a round shape that offers a safe, cozy place for your pet to snooze, and soft walls to promote security. This border is created by a simple fabric fold over, making the Yin-Yang Cat Bed easy to throw in the washer and dryer!

This 22" inch pet bed is the right size for a couple of cats or a small dog - or more, if they like to share! My daughter (frequent Moogly model) has two cats of her own, and they have been loving their new bed!

Cats Love Bernat Blanket Yarn
I didn't realize when I made my first cat bed... but cats love Bernat Blanket yarn! At least, all the cats I've encountered so far! My daughter's cats, her friends' cats, and as many of you have told me, your cats too love this yarn! It's super soft, very warm, and it holds up to their love and use!

And big bonus, it's washable and dryable! I specifically designed the Yin-Yang Cat Bed to be super easy to care for. There is no stuffing, and Bernat Blanket is machine washable and dryable - and I recommend that's how you treat this project! Make it, let them use, and you can all love it!

NOTES:
Rounds 1 - 15 of the Base of this pattern are made using turned rounds. Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the round, and then turn to work in the other direction. Put a stitch marker in the first and last stitch of each round to make this easier.
When changing colors when making the Base, finish the last stitch of the old color with the new color yarn. Leave each color hanging so you can come back to it without cutting the yarn. This is why we work in turned rounds. The colors will line up, without cutting the yarn or crocheting over it.
The Circles of this pattern are made in spirals. Do not join with a slip stitch at the end of each round, and do not turn. Put a stitch marker in the first stitch or each round to make this easier.

Assembling the Yin Yang Cat Bed

2: Use the long tails of the Circles to backstitch the Circles onto the Base.
3: Fold the Base at Rnd 20, towards the outside of the bed. (Unfold to wash and dry.)

Now that we've put that to bed...

Now, if I can only figure out how to make one man size for me.
Tamara Kelly says
Just keep increasing in the flat circle til it's big enough - it's totally possible!! 😀

How do you turn the edge up for the kitty bed ?
Tamara Kelly says
Hi Louise! I folded it down - right at that one round of increases. 🙂

Hi, I have a question on round 8 of the base of bed instructions. The last 4 stitches of the round are listed as sc, however, the row count lists 80 hdc. Just wanted to clarify, so I can correct my row if necessary.
Tamara Kelly says
Oh my gosh, that's a typo! Thank you so much for pointing it out - hdc all the way! ♥
