    Mini Magic Mandala Square Tutorial

    Published: Apr 29, 2015 · Modified: May 6, 2015 by Tamara Kelly · 23 Comments

The Mini Magic Mandala Square is a great little 6" square when worked in Worsted/Aran weight yarn. It's also the basis of the Magic Rainbow Baby Blanket! Here's how it's made.

    • Magic Circle, Seamless Finishing, Spike Stitches

It's all pretty straight forward - the "tricks" are the spike stitches and crocheting between the posts. At least, that's what I get the most questions about.

This pattern also shares it's first few rows with the Magic Spike Mandala Square, which is a 12" block - particularly that tricksy Round 3! So if you can make the mini 6" square, you should be able to make the 12" version no problem. At any rate, it's easier than pronouncing "mandala!"

I hope you enjoyed this crochet video tutorial! Thank you to Red Heart Yarn for the hook and yarn shown! Get Moogly on your favorite social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, G+, Pinterest and Tumblr, and sign up for the FREE  Newsletter so you don’t miss a thing!

      Hey Tamara

First of all thank you for your wonderfull site, and your great tutorials, I'm using them a lot, thank you for all your hard work.

Next I saw you had written that your needle was from furls, i have been looking for it on their page, but did not find it, do you by any chance know where I can find a needle like that, or don't they sell them yet.
thank you so much for your answer.

Shouldn't row 7 say 72 stitches? Love your pattern!

            Hi Barb!
You finish the last rep in ch sp, ch 2, sc in same ch sp. This tutorial might help more: https://www.mooglyblog.com/tight-braid-join/

I'm sorry Barbara, I have a really bad head cold today and I'm afraid I'm not following. You make the last corner/side look like all the other ones around. Did you watch the joining tutorial? That's the part you are on with Round 9.

It's not you it is me. I did row 8 on the first joining square and you showed us how to join in the chain. Then I started row 9 in a corner with slip stitch ch 1 sc ch 2 sc. I continued around the square making the ch 2 spaces etc. I don't know how to finish the row. Hope you feel better soon.

Ok, then you will chain and join to the first sc you made, I believe.

Hi Hazel! For me I decide based on the individual pattern - and which I think looks best right in that spot. I'll often try it a couple ways in a pattern before deciding which to use. I also take into consideration what sort of border or seaming I'll be doing, if any. 🙂
