    Touchdown with Lily Sugar'n Cream!

When you're out picking up the snacks, be sure to stop by the yarn aisle for some Lily Sugar'n Cream! This yarn is ideal for this project, because it's machine washable and dryable, absorbent, and can stand up to the hottest dishes on your table. (If you do choose to substitute yarns, be sure to avoid acrylics and polyester which can melt!)

Fun Reusable Seasonal Decor - and a Hosting Gift!

The Football Wiggle Trivet is made in two parts, that work up super quickly! First, you make the base mesh, and then you add the "wiggles" - post stitches that stand up tall and proud. Whip one up in an evening - or during the first game of the season! Don't forget to take one to the bowl party as thanks for all those snacks!

    NOTES:

This pattern is made in two sections. First, we make a mesh football shape. Then, we crochet the "wiggles" into that mesh. We add the white stitching and then fill in with the brown wiggles.

Ch 4 in the mesh counts as a dc and ch 1.

The first ch 2 and dc in the mesh counts as a dc2tog (Rows 11 - 13). Work into the top of the dc as the final st in the next row.

When making the Wiggles, work ONLY around the mesh dc sts and inner halves/posts of the dc2togs. Do not work into the ch-1 sps or into the edging. Only work around the dc sts that do NOT have edging sts worked around or into them.

Always add laces and wiggle sts from the RS of the football mesh.

When you work 5 dc sts "up" the post of one st (from base to top), then you will work the next "down" the st (from top to base) - these alternate creating a wave across the row.

What about the White Stripes? I went NFL style, but if you like the white stripes, just switch to Color B (white) for the Fill In Wiggles on Rows 4 and 14.
