    Crochet Greek Alphabet, Part 1

    Published: May 15, 2015 · Modified: Jun 15, 2016 by Tamara Kelly · 11 Comments

After designing the Moogly Crochet Uppercase Alphabet, Lowercase Alphabet, Numbers, and Punctuation, there was yet another request - the Greek Alphabet! While I don't plan on covering every language out there, Greek letters are indeed commonly used in English speaking countries - in math, science, and of course fraternities, sororities, etc. So I've worked up the complete uppercase Crochet Greek Alphabet - and I'm sharing the first half in this post, and the second is HERE!

The Crochet Greek Alphabet: Alpha through Mu

Add this pattern to your Ravelry Queue and Favorites

    • US - F, 3.75mm hook
    • Knit Picks Dishie (100% Cotton; Worsted/10 ply; 190 yds/174 m; 3.53 ounces) - 8-10 yds per letter; colorway: Kenai
    • For crochet abbreviation definitions and tutorial videos, please visit the Crochet Abbreviations page.

    NOTES:

    • These letters are all between 3-4" tall. If you want a different size letter, use a different yarn weight and hook size!
    • Gauge is unimportant - just use a hook smaller than the yarn calls for.
    • If you are sewing the letters to something else that is crocheted, leave long tails at the beginning and end to sew them on with.
    • To help the letters keep their shape, spray starch on the wrong side of the letter and a hot iron does the trick - just be sure to do this with COTTON ONLY.

These patterns are super awesome! Thank you so much for posting them!

I do have a question on the Delta pattern..
Once I get to row 15 and finish the FSC 7, I am completely lost! Is there anyway you could post a video? I always have a hard time with written instructions.

      Thanks again!

Thank you Olivia! So after you FSC 7, you sc into the starting end of the other side of the delta. Basically, in this row, you are creating the bottom of the delta. Rows 1-14 create the ^ shape, rows 15-17 create the _. Does that help?

The print friendly button doesn't work on this post. There seems to be some sort of break after the title for ETA so the button only generates the page from the first row of ETA down.

It may be too long, or it may be glitching right now. You can always cut and paste into a word doc. 🙂

OMG! I'm going crazy trying to make the THETA "O" pattern! When I finally figured out the first half and it was looking good, I totally lost it on the last half! The craziest pattern I've ever tried to follow!

I am also having problems with the print button that were reported in the comments in 2015. It grabs from first line of Eta down. I haven't had this problem with any other patterns. I tried it with your print button, the extension I added to Chrome, and with printfriendly.com. I then waited until the next day to try again but still not working. Then I saw the comment.

I'm cleaning up my Evernote and sending the things I use to Google Drive. Thank you so much for your patterns and telling us about the print friendly button. I love your Moogly letters and the garland. I've made it a few tines. It is because of your article at the end of the letters I was trying to figure out how to save that I learned about the print friendly extension and have had a much easier time cleaning up Evernote.

Thanks so much! You're an awesome designer.

I'm so sorry this particular post has this issue. I'm afraid my best recommendation for now is to cut and paste the bits you need into a doc and print from there. ♥ And thank you!
