Fall in Love Again with Caron Cakes - Autumn 2025's Picks!

Fall in Love Again with Caron Cakes - Autumn 2025's Picks!

There's a new crop of Caron Cakes in Michaels stores, and I've got my hands on a precious collection - let's take a closer look at what's out there in Autumn 2025!

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Yarnspirations. This post may include affiliate links.

    First, the Most Important Facts!

WHERE DO I GET THIS YARN: These Caron Cakes are available exclusively at Michaels - go to Michaels.com to order for pickup or see what's in store near you!

WHAT WILL YOU FIND IN THIS POST: I'm going through the ones I've gotten my hands on, and sharing the details, my opinions, and some pattern ideas to try with each one! Look for all the great links below!

WHAT IF THIS BLOG POST ISN'T ENOUGH?!: Check out my video review below!

    Caron Slice of Anniversary Cake

    Caron Slice of Anniversary Cake

CLICK HERE to order this yarn!

    The Details: 100% Acrylic, 6 - Super Bulky, 8.8oz, 285 yards

My Impressions: This is a great, "bite-sized" version of the popular (and giant) Anniversary cakes! I got a skein of the Prismatic colorway, and it's a super bright and happy one. The yarn itself is made of three relatively loose plies, for a squishy, plush look to your stitches. It's very soft to the touch, without a "plasticy" feel to it. There are solids in this yarn as well as multis. Looking at the pattern included on the label, you can see that the

multis of this yarn have some self-striping to them with a nice repeat. You'll get more of the self-striping effect with knitting, and more of a colorblocked effect with crochet.

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: This yarn comes with a pattern for the Big Scrappy Crochet Tote on the label! You can also try this yarn with the Scrappy Crochet Mittens, Double Brioche Stitch Knit Hood, and Long Way Around Crochet Scarf Pattern. This yarn would also be perfect for the Stitch In Time Capelet!

The Details: 100% Acrylic, 5 - Bulky, 3.5oz, 138 yds, includes a matching faux fur pom pom

My Impressions: This little mini cake is designed to make one hat - with a matching pom! Even the label is extra cute on this one, with little scallops around the top. I got two colorways - Prismatic (again, super colorful and happy!), and Tiramisu Tan, a lovely multi-colored neutral. The pattern included on the label is crochet, which tells me there should be enough to make a simple knit hat as well. This one is more tightly wound than the Anniversary Cake, and while it's still soft, it does feel a bit stronger - useful when making hats they'll love to wear! I love the idea of including the matching pom. This is such a great choice for roadtrips and vacations - pattern, pom, and yarn all in one package!

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: The pattern on the label is for the Caron Colorwork Crochet Hat! This yarn is also recommended in the Ridged Stripes Knit Hat, Crochet Prismatic Hat Pattern, and Shaker Rib Knit Hat. I would love to try it out with the Rustic Diamond Hat!

    Caron Macchiato Cakes

CLICK HERE to order this yarn!

    The Details: 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool, 5 - Bulky, 8oz, 481 yds

My Impressions: With vibrant colors, an elevated look, and a soft, subtle halo, this yarn is always a lovely choice! This one features gradual color transitions for lots of self-striping possibilities. The wool content gives it a gorgeous look, while the acrylic keeps it strong and soft, and easy to wear. This one does require a little more care, as handwashing is recommended. I got the Glowing Grapefruit colorway - so very bright and eye-catching! - and Atomic Aqua - maybe my favorite, with bright pops of color blended with more subtle shades. This yarn is great for all sorts of home decor, accessories, and even sweaters. I've got plans for this one!

    Caron Macchiato Cakes

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: Included with each cake, you'll get a copy of the Crochet Bias Panels Blanket! You can also use this one to make the Two Color Crochet Blanket Wrap, Elbow Length Wrist Warmers, Knit Striped Top Down Sweater, Wrapped In Warmth Crochet Scarf, Harlequin Crochet Rectangular Shawl, Crochet Hooded Hexi Cardigan, and Ribbed and Cropped Knit Pullover. Another great option for a one skein project in this yarn would be the Odds Are Shawl!

    Caron Smash Cakes

CLICK HERE to order this yarn!

    The Details: 100% Acrylic, 4 - Medium, 8oz, 432 yds

My Impressions: I picked up the Caramel Crunch and Turquoise Punch colorways of this one - one neutrals, one neons! This yarn has a unique look - it's two plies twisted together. Sometimes the plies are the same color, but sometimes one of the plies switches to black - you'll have to look at the photos to see what I mean. This creates a really interesting effect in the finished items, with a lot of interest and depth. This one will take some swatching to find just the right project, and I think sticking to simpler stitch patterns will be key to making this yarn shine. Complicated stitch patterns are likely to just get lost with this one!

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: Luckily, there are some patterns already ready for you - like the one on the label, for the Knit Smashing Split Ribbed Cowl! That one's not on the site as of the writing of this blog post, so you'll need to get the yarn for now. Other patterns to try with this yarn include the Smash Colors Knit Yoke Sweater, Crochet Candy Check Blanket, and the Top That Crop Top and Sleeves! I would love to see this one used to make the Knotted Rainbow Tote!

CLICK HERE to order this yarn!

    The Details: 100% Polyester, 4 - Medium, 8oz, 720 yds

My Impressions: Ooo, now this is SOFT! I got both the Plum Paradise and Minty Marvel, and I can't stop petting them. This yarn is fuzzy, though the halo is small. The overall impression I keep getting is Monet's watercolors - especially in the Minty Marvel and Icy Lime colorways. I think this yarn will be gorgeous in sweaters and accessories, as well as home decor. It's fluffy, and incredibly light, as evidenced by the yarndage - a mind boggling 720 yards of medium-weight yarn in only 8 ounces?! Compare that to the other yarns in your stash to see just how light that is.

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: As always, there's a lovely free pattern on the label - in this case, it's for the Cozy Cubes Block Stitch Crochet Scarf! This one also isn't on Yarnspirations yet, so there's another reason to save your label. Other great patterns for this yarn include the This Way and That Way Crochet Scarf Pattern, Crochet Oversized Zip Front Hoodie Pattern, and Knit Ruffle Tie-Front Cardigan! I would love to try it out with the Paloma Cardigan!

CLICK HERE to order this yarn!

    The Details: 100% Acrylic, 6 - Super Bulky, 35.3 oz, 1029 yds

My Impressions: This is the BIG ONE! You've seen these before, and they are back again with 8 gorgeous colorways. With over 1000 yards of yarn you can make a small blanket and only have 2 ends to weave in when you're done. (And it makes matching dye lots easier when you're only getting 2 or 3 balls!) This super bulky yarn will work up quickly, and stand up to what you dish out - it's machine washable and dryable! Six of the colorways are bold and bright, but don't fret if you love a more neutral look - Oyster is the perfect blend of beachy tones!

The Perfect Patterns for this Yarn: This one doesn't come with a pattern on the label, but there are patterns for it on Yarnspirations! These include the Sample Blue Crochet Afghan, Let's Stripe Crochet Cardigan, Stripes on the Go Knit Scarf, Chevron Stripes Crochet Blanket, Warm & Cool Crochet Blanket, Crochet Hexi-Cardigan, and Knit Diamond Ruana! It would also be really interesting to see this worked up in the Cuff to Cuff Colorblock Cardigan!
