The Christmas Tree Coffee Cozy is for Secret Santas, teachers, coworkers, friends - aka people who get coffee shop gift cards or mug based gifts at the holidays. Or really anyone who'd enjoy a holiday hot drinks holder! Add a homemade touch that lifts your gift or morning joe above the rest with this free mug cozy pattern.
The Christmas Tree Coffee Cozy fits all of the standard sized mugs in my house, as well as the taller travel mugs. If you're making it for one of those giant over-sized mugs (you know, the one for Mondays), you might want to add an extra row or three of evergreens or trunk - just try it on as you go!

So what do you think? Do you like the rustic look shown here, or would you add some swag, glitter, and tiny ornaments? Maybe use a sparkly yarn? Just like full size trees, how you decorate it is up to you! I can't wait to see how you trim your Christmas Tree Coffee Cozies!

I love this and will absolutely be making a few of them this holiday season. One question, tho, is it possible to flip the ends? By that I mean have the loop at the bottom and the star on top of the tree? Just wondering. :0)
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Wendy! You can absolutely do it that way! I chose to do it the other way so that the button would pull the top of the tree into a point when it's on the cup, but the other way works too! 🙂
Wendy Pence
Gotcha! Maybe I'll try it both ways and see which I like better. :0)

Having a hard time getting started. Where do you begin the first LDC? In the chain 3 or the chain one before you single stitch into the ring? Please help.
Tamara Kelly
Hi Diana! The first LDC is worked into the ch 3 and the sc stitch made at the end of Row 1. Do check out the video tutorial if you haven't already: https://www.mooglyblog.com/linked-double-crochet/
