A little over a year ago I designed the Mod Stripes Rice Bag for I Like Crochet magazine. It's simple, but fun to crochet, and very practical! Now that it’s been a while, I also get to offer it on it’s own!

Rice bags are great, because they are easy to make, work as warm packs in the microwave as well as cold packs in the freezer, and they are easy to personalize! And the Mod Stripes Rice Bag takes it a step further by featuring a removable cover, in washable cotton!
These make great spa basket fillers, as well as get-well gifts! They're also great stashbusters and craft sale items - remember, with Moogly patterns you always have permission to sell items you've made from the pattern. Buy the Mod Stripes Rice Bag pattern at Craftsy or Ravelry, via the links below - and make as many as you like!

i love this! Do you use a special yarn that can be microwaved? I made a bowl cozy out of cotton yarn, and when i microwaved it, the yarn burned and smoked. I haven't tried microwaving yarn since.
Tamara Kelly
Oh my! I just used regular cotton, but I would recommend only heating it for a minute or so at a time.
