A Bit About the Author

Juliette is a prolific author, but most of her books are in French - as far as I can tell, this is her fourth in English! Here's her author blurb:

And that's about all I've been able to find out about her without turning into a stalker...😉 So let's take a closer look at her newest book!

I learned to crochet long before I learned to knit - and in order to learn to knit, I had to rent a "for kids" video from the children's section of the library! So I remember how tricky it can be to get started.

Learn to Knit in 10 Easy Lessons is split into two halves. In the first half, there are 10 lessons, walking you through each step in logical order - from cast on to binding off, basic increases and decreases, picking up stitches, and finishing touches.

In the second half, we find 5 patterns from Juliette, and 5 patterns contributed by other designers. There is a terrific variety here, from simple dishcloths to socks to tops and accessories.

Each pattern is marked with the lessons that are used - so you know up front which skills you need to make it! My only wish is that the text size would be a bit larger - might be showing my own age there though.

There are terrific, full color photos in Learn to Knit in 10 Easy Lessons that really take you step by step through both the stitches and the projects. I love that it doesn't only offer dishcloths, but shows that even sweaters can be easy! Is it enough to teach you to knit all by itself?

That is hard to say - some people need to see videos, others find that photos and words do the trick. But I think that it's a fantastic primer, and includes a lot of important information you might not pick up watching specific stitch videos. And the patterns are lovely - and well worth it on their own!
