Laurinda Reddig of ReCrochetions: Designer Showcase!

Published: Jul 27, 2015 by Tamara Kelly · Leave a Comment

It’s time for July’s Designer Showcase! I like to wrap up each month by having one of my favorite designers share a bit about themselves, and then I follow it up by sharing my 5 favorite free patterns that they've designed! This month I’m excited to share some things from the brilliant Laurinda Reddig - the blogger and designer behind ReCrochetions!

Laurinda Reddig Designer Showcase - including 5 free crochet patterns! On Mooglyblog.comDisclaimer: This post includes affiliate links.

Laurinda has one of the cleverest crochet minds I know! Here's Laurinda... on Laurinda!

I learned to crochet from my Campfire leader when I was in junior high school. I have always loved trying all sorts of crafts, but crochet is the one I kept coming back to. After I got married, I started working at a big box craft store, while I was finishing grad school. It was there that I started teaching crochet, and realized how much I loved sharing my passion for creating things from hook and yarn.

Meanwhile, I got my Masters in Public Health in Health Education, began working as a Postpartum Doula, and eventually started my own family. After losing my second baby, I knew that I could not go back to working with new moms and their babies. We were given a crocheted blanket and handmade quilt in the NICU, which inspired me to start teaching crochet again, to other moms who made blankets to donate in her memory. In 2012, I published my first book, ReCrochetions Presents: Rowan’s Learn to Crochet Sampler, in memory of my daughter.

My children have inspired so many of my designs, including my CGOA award-winning ones which helped develop the Reversible Intarsia technique. My second book, Reversible Color Crochet: A New Technique, was released by Interweave/F&W in June 2014. My designs and articles have now been published in various crochet magazines and books. My latest project is the Ficstitches Yarns Kit Club, working with several of my creative friends to tie my designs in with fictional stories, handcarved hooks, hand-dyed yarn, and more. You can check out what I’m up to on www.ReCrochetions.com. ~ Laurinda
