It’s time for October’s Designer Showcase! Once a month I have one of my favorite designers share a bit about themselves, and then I follow it up by sharing my 5 favorite free patterns that they’ve designed! This month I’m thrilled to have Jessie Rayot, the talented, funny, and inspiring designer and blogger at Jessie At Home!

Jessie is known for both her crochet and knit designs – and she shares her family life on her blog as well! Here’s what she has to say!
Hello!
Jessie of JessieAt Home.com here! I am quite excited to be featured on Moogly this month. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Tamara in person at the Knit and Crochet Show this past July, and she is not only as smart and talented as you would think, but a ton of fun as well!
So, I have been told to tell you a bit about myself. I learnt to crochet at age 8, from my Great Grandmother, and kept it as a hobby from then on. I started off my professional life as a costume designer/creator/pattern maker. I have a BFA in costume design and an MA in studio art, concentrating on painting and sculpture.
I ran the costume department for Adelphi University (in Long Island, NY) for several years. While there, I made friends with another artists who set me up on a blind date with her best friend, a Jersey boy. A few years later I found myself married and living in Jersey.
In 2007 we had twin girls, and I became a stay at home mom. Shorty thereafter I started my blog as a way to share photos and stories of the girls with my family. Eventually I started adding crafty posts in. Then I started adding patterns in, and it just kept evolving until I had to decide if it was a hobby or a business. We were buying a house, and needed some extra income, so I decided it was time to buckle down and take this whole blog/pattern designer thing seriously!
I really love creating crochet and knit patterns and sharing them on my blog. I do sell some of my more unique patterns, but the majority of my patterns are free at JessieAtHome.com. You can also still find posts about my crazy 7 year old girls on the blog as well!
In addition to being JessieAtHome, I am also a leader of my girls’ Girl Scout troop, I help out at the school with PTO functions, and I try to get out and play with my friends sometimes as well.
I’ve “known” Jessie online for a couple of years now, but Iwas so happy I finally got to meet her in person at the Knit and Crochet Show this past summer. She was even more fun in person, and it was so sad to say goodbye! Thank goodness for the internet – after all, that’s how she shares her free patterns! Now here are 5 of her free patterns that I want to share with you today!
