Janaya Chouinard of Charmed by Ewe: Designer Showcase!

It’s time for December’s Designer Showcase! I like to wrap up each month by having one of my favorite designers share a bit about themselves, and then I follow it up by sharing my 5 favorite free patterns that they've designed! This month I’m excited to share some things from the ultra talented Janaya Chouinard - the blogger and designer behind Charmed by Ewe!

Janaya's designs are colorful, exciting, and always have something extra special. And I'm so happy to be able to feature her here today! Here's a little about Janaya in her own words:

Hello! My name is Janaya and I am the Crochet Designer and Blogger behind Charmed By Ewe. I’m from British Columbia, Canada where I live with my husband and 4 year old daughter.

I first learned to crochet when I was about 11 years old. My mom taught me and since she is a lefty, I remember sitting across from her and mirroring her movements with the hook. Unfortunately, I lost interest in it for many years, until my daughter was almost a year old. In 2012, while browsing Pinterest, I saw the most adorable crochet poncho and I was determined to make it for my little girl.

I headed off to the store and bought a hook and the biggest skein of turquoise blue yarn they had, then spent a couple of days brushing up on and practicing the basic stitches. Then I tackled that poncho! Finished it too; with only a few mistakes. It was too big for my daughter, so Panda modeled it for me.

At this point, I was addicted! And it was on to the next project. It was about a year later that I decided to try designing my own patterns. I started with baby shoes, then moved onto hats and now have a wide variety of patterns, free and paid, available in my shop.

Whether a seasoned crocheter, or new to the hook, I hope you are inspired by my designs!
