I don't get to spend as much time as I'd like in the knitting world, but I'm very impressed by Fraunke's book! Here's her official author blurb:

That's... super short, albeit accurate! So if she won't brag about herself, here's a fab review of this book from Publisher's Weekly:

Timeless Styles for a Modern Wardrobe
Originally published in Germany, Essential Knit Sweaters really does a great job of covering a wide range of styles of sweaters - and the basics of sweater knitting! As you can see in the Table of Contents below, there is an extensive section on stitching, including lots of info on how to customize the sweater designs within.
Showing how to knit in pictures and words can be tough, but this book has some great illustrations. And as someone who only knits occasionally, it's super helpful to be able to just turn to that page for a quick review rather than going online for a full tutorial. And the section on "Possible Combinations" is fantastic, making this book an evergreen resource.
The learning continues in the Projects section, which features 21 different sweater designs. Knitters of every skill level will appreciate the clear and detailed instructions, as well as the gradually increasing difficulty levels as they work through the book. The pattern formatting in Essential Knit Sweaters is excellent, and there are lots of thoughtful touches. I really liked the layout with each row and section highlighted, as well as the detailed measurements given.
My only criticism of this book is the size range. Each sweater design includes sizes XS to XXL. As a designer, I know that extending to larger sizes can mean a lot more math to ensure a good fit. But as a woman with a body that doesn't always fit within that range, I do wish they had taken the time to continue to 5X. However, if this size range works for you, then I think there is a lot to recommend this book, and it is one you'll be able to knit from for many years to come!
