Every year the Craft Yarn Council has a new focus - and this year is all about you - the yarnist! A yarnist is any human who creates with yarn, whether they craft, knit, or crochet. So I've created a fun craft for the Humans That Yarn campaign, in partnership with FaveCrafts - DIY Yarn Lanterns!

I really love this Humans That Yarn focus - there are so many fun things you can do with yarn! String art, for example, has been so popular lately. And dreamcatchers, and costumes, and... it's all so great!
I know I was playing with yarn for years before I found someone to teach me to crochet. I was an avid finger knitter as a child, I must have made miles and miles of that rope! So I always encourage people to find the right craft - or crafts! - for them. I love being multi-craftual!
And I'm not alone. According to the Craft Yarn Council, "48% of non-knitters and crocheters use yarn in other ways, whether they are wrapping yarn around a dowel for a wall hanging or around cardboard to make pompoms... In addition, our research shows that the most common reasons for not participating in the craft are lack of knowledge on how to get started (32%) and the perception that knitting/crocheting is difficult to learn (28%)."
Well, first things first - if you want to learn to crochet, CLICK HERE!
But if you already know how to crochet, or don't want to learn, that doesn't mean you aren't a Yarnist! And with that idea in mind, FaveCrafts commissioned Four Fabulous Projects for Humans That Yarn!
My project was the DIY Yarn Lanterns - full tutorial included!
All of these projects look like fun - and no special skills are required! I hope you use this as inspiration to try one of these projects - or some other yarny craft!
So, are you a Yarnist? If you'd like to help promote the Humans That Yarn campaign, you can use the #HumansThatYarn and #Yarnist to tag your project photos (and progress photos - we're all learning all the time!) on social media!
