Crochet Bags and Totes Review
A Bit About the Author

I first met Salena years ago - was it before her first book? I'm not sure, she's become such a prolific author and designer! Here's her author blurb:
"I learned to crochet at the age of 5 and haven't put my hook down since! I've published over 500 patterns, authored 16 crochet books, taught 2 courses with Craftsy, and launched the American Crochet Association. I currently live in Oregon with my cute family and loud dog."
Let's take a closer look at her newest book!

Inside Crochet Bags and Totes
"Love quick crochet projects that don’t use a lot of yarn, are fun to work, and give you something useful when you’re done? This is the collection for you! From a sturdy little backpack to a cute drawstring cross-body to slouchy market bags and classic throw-over-your-shoulder totes, there’s a crochet bag or tote in here for everyone.
Each design is made with easy-to-find yarns from Yarnspirations—like Handicrafter and Peaches & Creme—so getting started on every project in this collection is simple. These patterns are easy enough for newer crocheters to follow with confidence, and they’ve got plenty of personality to keep even the most seasoned crocheters inspired.
Whether you’re heading to the beach, running errands, or just need a fun new project, you’ll find a design in this book that you’ll love make to (and use) all year long.
- 10 simple crochet bag designs featuring a drawstring backpack, crossbody bag, and several totes
- Use granny stitches, fan stitches, filet crochet, and working in the round to create a variety of shapes and textures
- Low-sew and no-sew designs make these easy projects for advanced-beginner crocheters
- Cut down on plastic waste by taking these to the grocery store or give as a gift to friends and family"

There are blanket crocheters, and sweater crocheters... but I think almost all of us love making bags! Ranging from super simple to clever challenges, there's a crochet bag pattern out there for every mood, every style, and every skill level.

As noted above, all the patterns in this book use yarns from Yarnspirations, which means you'll be able to find them (or a viable substitute) both online and at your nearest big box craft store. (And some of us will have plenty in our stash! 😉 )

Bags are the kind of project you return to again and again - they are fun to crochet, handy and practical, and every one is a new adventure! This book is full of inspiration and lovely patterns to keep your hook busy all summer. Salena's patterns are always clear and well-written in standard US terms and format.

No need to overthink this one - if you love crocheting bags and totes, then Crochet Bags and Totes is your next must-read crochet book!
