    MooglyCAL2018: My Colors Revealed!

Published: Jan 17, 2018 by Tamara Kelly · 15 Comments

The MooglyCAL2018 kicks off tomorrow with square #1 - and today I get to announce what yarn I'll be using: Red Heart With Love!

I can't wait to share tomorrow's square with you all - it's so pretty! And I love the way it turned out using my colors! You can see, I've already got it on my Chetnanigans blocking board:

I've chosen to go with Red Heart With Love - it's super soft and squishy, stands up to my family, washes and wears well - and comes in 56 different colorways! I have a few blankets I've made with With Love in years past, and they are just as lovely today as they were fresh off the hook. There are solids, multis, and even stripes - great for those who don't want to change yarn colors in each square.

So let's get specific - I'm using 5 solid colors, and one Multi for the borders and joining. The solid colorways are Holly Berry, Hot Pink, Tigerlily, Lettuce, and Iced Aqua; and they were in turn inspired by the Multi, which is Fruit Punch! Such a happy, cheerful combo!

Because Red Heart With Love comes in such big skeins, I am betting on using just 3 of each of the colors, and 6 of the Fruit Punch to make this year's blanket. (The Multi skeins are a bit smaller than the Solids.) And I've already broken into the first set...

So I'll be back tomorrow with Square #1 for MooglyCAL2018 - see you there! If you need more info on the CAL, Click HERE!

Your 6 skeins of varigated and 3 each of 5 others totals almost 7000 yards. I also bought Red Heart With Love, 4 skeins of a varigated and 2 each of 5 solids, total about 4620 yards. Thought the requirement was 4420? Do I need to get more?

The Fruit Punch is a smaller skein. 🙂

Unless it's totally severely curling, I would try blocking it with a little steam to see if that doesn't help it lie flat. 🙂

The magic ring is common in these patterns but they just say magic ring, I don’t know if that is with single or double crochet or how many. Can someone please help?

Hi Angie! You can use any stitch with the magic ring, so whatever instructions come next are what you work into the ring. Does that make sense?
