The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi Review
A Bit About the Author

The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi is Drew's second book, and it debuted in October of 2024! Here's a bit more about our author:
"Drew Hill is an amigurumi designer and fiber arts enthusiast. He learned to knit at the age of 10 and has been passionate about yarn from that moment on. At 17, Drew picked up a crochet hook and has rarely put it down since. After years of crocheting as a hobby, he decided to take things to the next level and opened Drewbie's Zoo, where he sells finished amigurumi and offers both free and premium patterns.
A graduate of the University of Michigan with a BFA in Theatre Design & Production, Drew has worked as a costume designer and has found ways to sneak his fiber crafts into most productions. These days he spends his time in his craft dungeon, experimenting with new patterns. When he's not working, Drew enjoys playing with his golden retriever, Billy, and eating delicious vegan food."
Now let's dive into The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi!
Inside The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi
"After 70 years of singing and dancing and making people happy, The Muppets are ready to tackle their next wacky performance: getting hooked on crochet! With The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi, you can now crochet your own Muppet amigurumi figures, and the whole gang is here – Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Animal, Gonzo, even Pepé the King Prawn and Rizzo the Rat! Each of these fifteen projects is a fully articulated doll, right down to Animal’s wild hair and Kermit’s pointed collar. With easy-to-follow patterns, and some jokes and fun from The Muppets themselves, The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi will have you ready to put on a show with all your favorite characters."

The Muppets Official Crochet Amigurumi is the first book I've been sent for review that had all 3 of my kids excited! They are pretty blasé about yarn stuff after all these years, but The Muppets are beloved by all - we even got a chance to see some of the characters in person at the Jim Henson Exhibit this past weekend!

All Your Favorites Are Here!
So I was super excited to get inside this book, and take a peek at what Drew has made. This is a big, heavy, hardcover book, with thick glossy paper throughout. The photos are large and clear with lots of closeups, and the pattern pages feature large clear print - it's genuinely a joy to peruse and use.

The patterns use a variety of medium/4/worsted-weight acrylic yarns, with safety eyes, stuffing, and a small bit of felt completing most characters. The patterns themselves are written in what I would call "amigurumi style," which has an abbreviated format.

For instance, where I might write "work 2 sc in each st around," amigurumi patterns would write "(Inc) x6." It takes a little adjusting, but is easy to follow once you get the hang of it - like anything in crochet!

I haven't had a chance to make any of the patterns in this book. But the layout is great and the photos look amazing. There are some mixed reviews of it on Amazon currently, so this one might be best for those with more experience crocheting amigurumi.

Haley says
My fav is definitely Fozzie and Gonzo!
Autumn Bower says
My favorite skit is the one with the caveman guy with sunglasses and the two pink girl singers (don't know what they were, they had little horns on their heads and an "o" shaped mouth) that sang kind of scatting with "mana mahna" from the man and "do do to da to" for a chorus from the girls. And anything skit that the two old hecklers from the audience (usually in the balcony) were in. The Muppets Show was my absolute favorite show when I was a kid, and still love to watch; and of course I got my kids hooked on watching too!
Lady Choe says
I love to think back on how I must have annoyed my parents endlessly with that song 🙂

Andrea Rivera says
It’s hard for me to choose a favorite but the ones I sheets love to see are Pepe, Rizzo, Miss Piggy and Fozzy. Pepe and Rizzo are my fav iconic duo because their personalities are hilarious and they compliment each other so well. Miss Piggy’s outfits are always super cute and her confidence always steals the spotlight. Fozzy is so kind and warms me up every time I see him. So with so many characters and their differences it’s really difficult to choose who to like more.
Natasha says
Beaker!!
Brenda Fish says
Oh my goodness!! My favorite is Kermit the frog. When I was young I had a Kermit doll that I took everywhere. When I went to Sea World for the first time and went through the underwater shark tunnel I had him with me to protect me from the moving sidewalk through the tunnel. I protected him from the sharks. I am so excited about this book!
