It's time for a Mini Crochet Along here on Moogly! This time around, it's the Amelia Shawl!
The Amelia Shawl is a one skein shawl made with Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball and a US-J, 6.00 mm hook! You can pick up a skein at your nearest big box craft store, or order directly from Lion Brand. There are 8 gorgeous colorways to choose from:
All the color changes happen right in the skein! I used Community Coral, but they are all so tempting! And with the Amelia Shawl there are only 4 ends to weave in when you're done - love that!
The Amelia Shawl has a unique shape, with a straight back (no arrows pointing at your rear end!) and ends that swoop up and around to stay on your shoulders. It can be worn as a traditional shawl across the shoulders, or "backwards" as a scarf/cowl. Either way it looks fantastic!
The Spring Mini CAL for the Amelia Shawl works like this - you provide the yarn and hook and crochet time, and I provide the first half of the pattern on April 15th, and the second half of the pattern on April 22nd! Each part is less than 20 rows, so even if you've got lots of other projects going, you have time to make a gorgeous shawl.
So grab a skein of Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball, your J hook, and join the fun! I hope you enjoy it! CLICK HERE for the Amelia Shawl pattern!

Yay! 😀 Thank you Marcia!
I've never done a CAL, but I'm thinking about doing this one! 🙂 My stepmom's birthday is in June, and I'm planning on crocheting a shawl for her, which I've never done before. She likes purple, so I'm thinking of the Mindful Mauve!
Ooo, that's a pretty one! 😀
Ok, ordered! 😀 Hooray for 2-day free shipping on Amazon, so I'll be able to get started right away. Do you recommend winding it into a ball, or just working from it the way it is? I have a ball winder, but I've never worked with this type of yarn before and I don't want to do bad things to it.
Has anyone had any luck getting this in the UK? I can't find anywhere stocking it and would love to join in with this CAL 🙂
Try this... http://yarnsub.com/yarns/lion_brand/shawl_in_a_ball
Thank you for sharing that! I've still had no luck finding it in the uk, so may just go with something from my stash 🙂
Yay! 😀 Welcome!
I'm in, but have to use stash yarn, I have 5 skeins of Lion Brand Amazing yarn. Do you think that will ba a good substitute?
So all the directions will arrive in email then??? and yo have t sign up fo the newsletter to be involved? I want to do this and not miss out! Shawl in a ball is awesome!
Hi Karla! No, the pattern will be right here on the blog - I'll link to it in the newsletter and Facebook/Twitter/etc, but you don't have to sign up for the newsletter or anything else! 🙂 Thank you!
GOOD TIMING! I was looking for something to start, but couldn't really get with it. This is perfect!
😀 Thank you Autumn!
Just in time for Mother's Day, too! What a great project!
I'm totally in! I just wish I actually COULD find this at any local stores - Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's all come up empty. Might have to start a little late when the yarn actually arrives; I can't wait!!!
Is there another yarn that you can recommend, my Michaels doesn't carry it.
Any worsted weight yarn should work!
I'm excited! My first CAL and now yarn is on the way from Amazon. My local craft store doesn't have this yarn yet... This will be the first project I've done for myself in a long time. Holiday, birthday, and baby shower gifts are done. Busting my yarn stash during Lent was great and created many prayer shawls, as well. Now I'm ready for something new!
Yay! Welcome aboard!
today the day, I love to make shaws, this ine will look great with my summer wordrobe to just keep the chill if while relaxing at the rv doing crochet.
😀 I hope you enjoy it! https://www.mooglyblog.com/amelia-shawl/
Will have to do this from stash yarn - but please count me in!
Am I missing something? I don't see the pattern here.
I'm looking forward to making this! Thanks!
Hi Annie! That was the announcement. Part 1 is at https://www.mooglyblog.com/amelia-shawl/ 😀
I just got a ball of this! Between that and the shawl sharing a name with one of our daughters, it's a must-do. Excited!
Yikes i missed the first part and dont see how to join? I will go todY for the yarn and check back later for further instructions! Thanks
You don't have to "do" anything to join other than crochet the shawl! 🙂 No rush! Part 1 is at https://www.mooglyblog.com/amelia-shawl/

Count me in!
This is perfect. I ended up with some extra Shawl in a Ball and I can use it for this shawl.
Would love to join in even if I am a day late.
There's no schedule you have to follow, hopefully people will make this pattern for years to come! 😀
i'm in, too. 🙂
I really want to do this project; just will be starting a little late when the yarn arrives.
I have never done a CAL but am going to try this one. I am a little late starting because I could not find the Shawl in a Ball yarn. Finally, I have decided to try it with Red Heart Soft worsted 4.
I hope you enjoy it!
