Spring Mini Crochet Along: Amelia Shawl

    Published: Apr 12, 2016 · Modified: Apr 21, 2016 by Tamara Kelly · 40 Comments

It's time for a Mini Crochet Along here on Moogly! This time around, it's the Amelia Shawl!

The Spring Mini Crochet Along on Moogly is the Amelia Shawl! Get the supply list on Mooglyblog.com!

The Amelia Shawl is a one skein shawl made with Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball and a US-J, 6.00 mm hook! You can pick up a skein at your nearest big box craft store, or order directly from Lion Brand. There are 8 gorgeous colorways to choose from:

The Spring Mini Crochet Along on Moogly is the Amelia Shawl! Get the supply list on Mooglyblog.com!

All the color changes happen right in the skein! I used Community Coral, but they are all so tempting! And with the Amelia Shawl there are only 4 ends to weave in when you're done - love that!

The Amelia Shawl has a unique shape, with a straight back (no arrows pointing at your rear end!) and ends that swoop up and around to stay on your shoulders. It can be worn as a traditional shawl across the shoulders, or "backwards" as a scarf/cowl. Either way it looks fantastic!

The Spring Mini Crochet Along on Moogly is the Amelia Shawl! Get the supply list on Mooglyblog.com!

The Spring Mini CAL for the Amelia Shawl works like this - you provide the yarn and hook and crochet time, and I provide the first half of the pattern on April 15th, and the second half of the pattern on April 22nd! Each part is less than 20 rows, so even if you've got lots of other projects going, you have time to make a gorgeous shawl.

So grab a skein of Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball, your J hook, and join the fun! I hope you enjoy it! CLICK HERE for the Amelia Shawl pattern!

I've never done a CAL, but I'm thinking about doing this one! 🙂 My stepmom's birthday is in June, and I'm planning on crocheting a shawl for her, which I've never done before. She likes purple, so I'm thinking of the Mindful Mauve!

Ok, ordered! 😀 Hooray for 2-day free shipping on Amazon, so I'll be able to get started right away. Do you recommend winding it into a ball, or just working from it the way it is? I have a ball winder, but I've never worked with this type of yarn before and I don't want to do bad things to it.

I'm totally in! I just wish I actually COULD find this at any local stores - Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's all come up empty. Might have to start a little late when the yarn actually arrives; I can't wait!!!

I'm excited! My first CAL and now yarn is on the way from Amazon. My local craft store doesn't have this yarn yet... This will be the first project I've done for myself in a long time. Holiday, birthday, and baby shower gifts are done. Busting my yarn stash during Lent was great and created many prayer shawls, as well. Now I'm ready for something new!

I have never done a CAL but am going to try this one. I am a little late starting because I could not find the Shawl in a Ball yarn. Finally, I have decided to try it with Red Heart Soft worsted 4.
