I don't know how many Pokémon games my kids have, but I know it's more than one. And you don't have to play to know who the Pokémon are - they are a cultural phenomenon! A quick internet search tells me that as of August 2025, there are 1,025 Pokémon in the National Pokédex. So while you won't find ALL of them in this book, you'll find over 30 - and that's still a whole lot!

While I don't know all the names, I know the "main" guys are all here - Pikachu, the Poké Ball, Mudkip, Squirtle, Tepig, Charmander, Bulbasaur... and a bunch of other names that are a bit less familiar to me. In addition to the Pokémon squares, there are patterns that show you how to turn them into a lap blanket, pillow, banner, mug rug, play cubes, and wall hanging!

The patterns in this book were all made using Stylecraft Special DK, but you can use whatever yarn you like. In addition to the yarn, Ira does use a few other tools to bring her squares to life - craft felt, beads, fabric glue, stuffing, and embroidery floss. And from what I see, all that effort is well worth it!

Each pattern includes standard written crochet instructions, charts, and step-by-step instructions with lots of photos. The techniques section in the back really sets you up for success with close-up pics and instructions on how to add the felt and other special details!

Ira always creates the most amazing, beautiful designs, and Pokémon Crochet Squares is no exception. Each little face and square is perfect down to the stitch - truly impressive! If you or someone you love is a Pokémon fan, this book is your next must have!

You wouldn't believe how much I have spent over the years on Pokemon. My son had to have all the cards, figures and anything else Pokemon! He would test me on the first 151 and I was pretty good at it. His favorite was Squirtle and now he has 4 little boys who love them as well. I never win these things, but it's fun to try!

I would absolutely dream of owning this book! I'm an early 90's kid and have loved Pokemon and Japanese culture all my life. Im currently learning crochet and eventually want to progress onto micro crochet.
Your review of the book is perfect it gives me a taster of what to expect and that's extremely helpful. Theres nothing more annoying than seeing books with eye-catching front covers and then to be disappointed by the contents inside which are nothing like. Thankyou from England 😊 Rebecca

This book looks amazing! I’m always on the hunt for new Pokémon crochet patterns as my kids love them. My 4 year old son especially is obsessed, and I’m currently freehanding a ghosty Pikachu cardigan for him. Thanks for the chance to have this amazing book.
