There are some wonderful Yarnspirations yarns that are perfect for your next Classic Blue project! I’ve picked out five of my favorites, though there are many on Yarnspirations.com!
I’ve included some gorgeous patterns to show them off – and I’ve consulted my color wheel on a few coordinating yarns to pair with them too!
Pantone Color of the Year 2020 Classic Blue Yarns
Red Heart Super Saver, Royal
Basic Details: 100% acrylic, worsted “4”
Red Heart Super Saver is a classic yarn, and Royal is the perfect Classic Blue!
With dozens of shades to choose from, you’ll find lots of great coordinates. Orange is blue’s Complementary color on the color wheel, and last year’s Pantone color of the year, Living Coral, can be found in Super Saver Coral.
But what to make? The Red Heart Crochet Triangle Shawl is perfect for showing off this pretty color, and the Red Heart Faux Fair Isle Knit Poncho lets you pair Classic Blue with one of the Super Saver Fair Isle shades. I recommend Fair Isle Calm!
Caron X Pantone, Ocean Surf
Basic Details: 60% acrylic, 20% nylon, 20% merino wool, bulky “5”
When you’ve got a Pantone yarn, you’re already on the right track! Caron X Pantone in Ocean Surf includes a great Classic Blue, and the coordinating yarns are right on the braid!
Also take a look at the other Caron X Pantone braids featuring great blues: Peacock Blue, Frozen Berry, and Morning Blues.
Try any of these pre-made sets in the Caron X Pantone Crochet Color Swatch Scarf, and Caron X Pantone Asymmetrical Knit Scarf!
Bernat Blanket Coastal Collection, Lapis
Basic Details: 100% polyester, super bulky “6”
The Coastal Collection has this particular shade of blue, as well as one of the triad coordinates, a gorgeous mustard yellow yarn which they’ve named Moss!
Bernat Blanket is a fabulous home décor yarn for projects that work up fast! Try the Bernat Cluster Panels Crochet Blanket or the Bernat Zig-Zag Dip Knit Blanket for a quick gift that will keep them cozy all year!
Red Heart Chic Sheep by Marly Bird, VIP
Basic Details: 100% merino wool, worsted “4”
This upscale yarn features 24 vibrant shades – including another triad color, Lipstick! This wearable wool is so wonderful for all kinds of projects!
I loved designing the crochet Chic Moves Poncho with VIP, and the Red Heart Saddle Shoulder Chic Cardigan is a stunning knit!
Lily Sugar’n Cream, Dazzle Blue
Basic Details: 100% cotton, worsted “4”
Lily Sugar’n Cream was one of the first yarns I fell in love with when I learned to crochet. And it comes in lots of colors – including several shades of blue for the perfect Classic Blue gradient or ombre! Grab some Blueberry and Light Blue to get the look!
Lily Sugar’n Cream makes amazing household and kitchen items, and there are many patterns to choose from. The Lily Sugar’n Cream Crochet Handy Basket is handy in any home, and the Lily Sugar’n Cream Modern Weave Knit Kitchen Set is classic indeed!

I think best match to the Pantone Color of the Year for 2020 would be the Red Heart Super Saver Royal Blue. It’s a very rich color.
