LickinFlames Yarn Bowl Giveaway on Moogly!

Published: Sep 21, 2016 by Tamara Kelly · 13 Comments

Brenda and Jim from LickinFlames are two of my favorite people to see at yarny conventions! And not just because they are nice people - but they have amazing products! LickinFlames is their business, and their passion, and after trying one of their new yarn bowls, I just had to share  - and host a new giveaway here on Moogly!LickinFlames Yarn Bowl Giveaway on Moogly! Open in the US only, ends 9/28/16 at 12:15am central US time.

You might have spotted LickinFlames' yarn bowls in the latest issue of Crochet! magazine! So great! Or, you might have seen my LickinFlames yarn bowl on Instagram. I love using it - and it makes for a pretty picture too! Crocheting with it by my side always makes a project feel extra special.

    LickinFlames Yarn Bowl - lovely!

Isn't it pretty!? That said, I'm drooling over the photo Brenda sent me of the one they are giving away - gorgeous!LickinFlames Yarn Bowls - gorgeous! Art to add beauty to every crochet or knitting session.
I'm no expert on pottery, but I've learned a bit from Jim and Brenda, and I'm always amazed at the looks and finishes Jim gets with his unique and surprising techniques! Each yarn bowl is hand thrown and cared for by Jim.  He is a master of color and creating new ways of using old techniques. This one is made using the Raku Technique. Though sometimes he claims that fairies leave them on their doorstep!
But seriously, it's both fascinating and a little dangerous - the yarn bowls are taken from the kiln at between 1400 and 1700 degrees Fahrenheit and then manipulated to add color and carbon. They work with the pieces in extremely close proximity making singeing and burning very real possibilities. Each bowl is a unique work of art, and you can tell they take a real pride in what they make and sell.
Adding a LickinFlames yarn bowl to my crochet tool kit made me so happy - and I know that you will love them too! You can check out more beautiful yarn bowls, as well as shawl pins, buttons, and more, at LickinFlames.com, and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and get a behind peek at the artistry on The Banter! And don't forget to enter the giveaway below!
    Goodies from LickinFlames!

Beautiful Raku bowl and I would be honored to win that bowl! When much younger, I was very into ceramics, throwing and firing, I had the good fortune to be able to learn and make my own Raku firings. No 2 pieces ever turn out the same. So beautiful and unique with much history behind the process. I so appreciate this process.

I would love to win this for a friend of mine who is about to move out of the country. We met earlier this year through our mutual love for fibery-awesomeness and I am going to miss her terribly. She absolutely adores this kind of greeny colorway and I would so love to surprise her with it.

I would love to win a yarn bowl. I've wanted one for a long time now, but am unable to afford one at this time. I've been a knitter and crocheter for about 40 years and I still can't get enough. Good luck to everyone!

Magnificent work. I met a woman who did Raku many years ago and I, among many others at the meeting, was fascinated by it. Her skills and the use of color astounds and inspires me to try my hand at different combinations of colors.

Beautiful bowl, would like to give it to my sister who was my inspiration, instructor, and encouraged me not to give up in learning how to crochet.

Wow, this is my first exposure to Raku. So beautiful. It would be so wonderful to knit using such a beautiful piece of art to hold the yarn. Even if my creation is less than perfect at least I would enjoy the process because of the lovely bowl by my side.
