Hood / Hat + Scarf = 10 Free Scoodie Patterns

    Published: Aug 13, 2012 · Modified: Nov 16, 2018 by Tamara Kelly · 19 Comments

I was casting about (no pun intended) for an idea of what to blog about today, and decided to ask the moogly facebook fans... and hooded scarves were the answer! Also known as scoodies, it was too much of a coincidence to resist - moogly itself got it's start on a batch of commissioned scoodies made to look like octopi/squid! The rest is history, but scoodie patterns will always hold a special place in my heart. But enough about me, let's get on to the free patterns!

10 Free Scoodie Patterns - hood + scarf = perfect winter accesory!

    1. Pixie Scoodie (knit)  - With Bulky yarn and a bit of time with the needles, you can be frolicking in the woods and toasty warm! This whimsical and free pattern is on Something with Llamas and Guinea Pigs, and is just too fun. free knitting pattern scoodie hat scarf pixie llamas guinea pigs
    2. Harlequin Hoodie (crochet) - Rainbows, granny stripes, hood plus cowl... there's a lot to love with this free Ravelry download! For more from this designer, check out her etsy store, The Hat & I! harlequin hoodie scoofie scoodie free crochet pattern granny stripes squares rainbow
    3. Aviator (knit) - Beanie meets scarf in this free Ravelry download, and with great texture and a close fit, it works for 8 - 80 year olds! free knitting pattern hat scarf aviator beanie scoodie
    4. Hooded Scarf (crochet) - Red Heart hosts this free pattern from Erika and Monika Simmons, authors of Double Stitch. Bulky yarn and a simple design makes this a fast project! free crochet pattern hood scarf hat simmons red heart
    5. Harper's Hood (knit) - This pattern comes courtesy of Petite Purls, and it's perfect for the littlest scoodie fans. In fact, it comes with several finishing options, and they're all super cute! free knitting pattern knit baby hat scarf hood pixie scoodie
    6. Fully Hooded Custom Scarf (crochet) - Sinduction's Patterns offers this detailed crochet hooded scarf recipe, giving you step by step instructions to create a truly custom project, using any yarns and hood you choose! Love this! custom hood scarf free crochet pattern recipe hoodie
    7. Kitty Hood Scarf with Pockets (knit) - This free pattern from Cut Out + Keep makes me smile - so fun! But even if you aren't into ears on your hats, it's a great pattern with very clever hidden pocket construction. 8. Pixie Hood Pattern (crochet) - This vintage style pattern was recreated by soon 2B sonju, and she did a great job! It's simple and clean and fun, and it's easy to customize too! pixie hood scarf pattern free crochet vintage retro hoodie scoodie
    9. Heelhead Scarf (knit) - This clever scoodie features short rows for smart shaping! Carissa Knits offers lots of fun ideas for customizing it as well. heelhead scarf hood short rows free knit pattern

kitty hooded scarf knitting pattern. Just confused about the wool used to knit it. Can you use double knit wool, i am knitting for a friends daughter, and i don't want to spend too much money on wool. Also i have load of double knit wool here. :). If you let me know as soon as you can that be appreciated.

Hi Diana! Dk should be fine, as the worsted I used to make the pattern was a very light worsted. You'll still need to use it doubled though - holding two strands together. 🙂

Have you ever done pokemon scoodies? I have no clue how to make patterns since I've just recently began to crochet. And am looking for Vulpix wartortle celibi and a noctowl hat. And since I use pockets I figure it would be helpful. Thanxs!

I have not, but I think if I did I would start with the preferred plain "base" pattern, and then take the ears and details from one of the Pokemon amigurumi patterns!

I made the grey kitty one with mitts. It turned out really cute and worked up quickly. The person who ordered it was very pleased with it.

These are lovely. Why are there no scoodie patterns for Tunisian crochet? I've searched all over the web for that, with no luck.

Hi, I was wondering if you had a knit pattern for the last one on here (kitty ear hooded scarf with paw pad pockets) I am just learning knitting and would like to make this for myself but the pattern is for crochet.

Well it depends on the pattern and your crochet speed, yarn thickness, etc. But I'd say most could be made in an evening or two!
