One of the highlights of our trip to Ireland was a stop at Hedgehog Fibers in Cork! We were so lucky to get to see the showroom and purchase some of their gorgeous hand-dyed yarns. And the luck didn't end there - after I got home, they reached out about giving away a Hedgehog Fibers Merino DK Fade Set here on Moogly! Wow! Check out this stunning set, and enter to win here on Moogly!

Meet Hedgehog Fibers
Hedgehog Fibers was founded by Beata Jezek. Originally from Slovakia, she moved to Ireland seeking opportunity. And she found it in yarn! Dissatisfied with the yarns available in Ireland at the time, she started dyeing her own - and as soon as others spotted it, they had to have it. Hedgehog Fibers has never advertised - the product speaks for itself, and word-of-mouth was all they needed to open a small studio in 2010.

Their multinational team of mainly women is constantly working to improve sustainability, employing a rigorous 3x quality control process to make sure each hank is perfect when you get it. They strive to "under-promise and over-deliver!"

And their mission statement encapsulates this so well: "Hedgehog Fibres carefully & lovingly create the brightest colours, with the best materials, so each stitch you knit is a surprise, and each finished project looks as amazing as you feel."

So Let's get to the Yarn
There are so many great things to see and do on the Hedgehog Fibers website - from free patterns to club signups to a map of retailers from around the world. But what we're all really interested in right now is the yarn! They offer 14 yarn bases and currently have 158 colorways listed. But the shop page has everything currently ready to go!

It's easy to get lost in all the possibilities! So let's hone in on today's giveaway - a hand-picked Hedgehog Fibers Merino DK Fade Set! I mean... have you ever seen anything so pretty?

Here is the description for their Merino DK yarn: "DK weight yarn, 100% Merino wool, superwash. Smooth, soft, non-scratchy yarn with a tighter twist and a round profile. Great all purpose workhorse yarn, next to the skin soft. Wonderful stitch definition. The ideal yarn sweaters, scarves, hats, anything you can think of! Sold in approx. 100g skeins/200m. Gentle machine wash, delicate cycle."

And one winner will get these breathtaking 6 hanks, ranging from light to dark. Use them together, or use them individually - but you'll want to use these for someone(s) special indeed!

I have never used hand dyed yarn...there aren't a lot of places to buy yarn where I live...
Tina Hairston says
I rarely use my hand-dyed yarns because most of the people I make anything for are more the "throw it in the washer and dryer" people than the "hand wash lay flat to dry" people, lol. I keep the good stuff for myself and a select few. I'm using some right now to make a gift for a dear friend who in turn is making me a beautiful oil painting. It's a Skills gift exchange :). Thanks for the giveaway, Tamara!

Melanie Titus says
I only really got my first hand dyed yarns about 5 or 6 years ago, and then got a swift for the hanks. I sparingly use them because each and every one to me is precious and unique. I do however use them when I find the perfect project for them. If it screams out, THIS IS IT!! You must use me for this hat, or cowl, or shawl!! GAME ON!! lol I do not shy away from using them for the right project and I just learned to knit last year and am loving how the knit stitches accentuate some of the hand dyeds beauty!! Thank you for the chance!! Gorgeous yarns!! My friend just got some from Hedgehog and she said they were her dream yarns so I have shared the giveaway with her and other friends!!
Nathalie says

Chris Lopez says
What an awesome giveaway! Thank you Hedgehog Fibers! 🤗
Jo B says
I struggle to use hand-dyed yarns as many are wool based, often shetland or falkland or something else that makes me itch. I found out a year or so ago that pure merino is absolutely fine, no itch, just a smooth silky like feel against my skin, but I didn't know that there were any hand dyers using it. I would love the chance to create something beautiful and crocheted in this gorgeous yarn.
Jen Morrison says
I have only used them once. They were lovely.
Chris Little says
Thank you for this amazing opportunity ❤️ I love hand dyed yarns, especially s.w. merino!! The colors can be divine. I love shawls and blocks for granny afghans although I haven't completed one yet it's an ongoing WIP!! I usually stick with Expression Fiber Arts because I know and love Chandi's yarn bases, but it's nice to seek out other dyers. With this I'd probably do up a small blanket for myself. I've been wanting a bigger quantity of special luxury yarn. Just thank you for the opportunity and for being friends with me. 🤗❤️🧶🪢
