Once again, I’ve been honored by being asked to design the Furls December 2020 Crochet Along pattern! This year I’ve designed the Sugar Plum Wrap – a big, cozy, striped, and textured shawl… with pockets! Get the details below, and CAL along with Moogly this month!

Featuring Caron Lovely Layers Cakes
To make this oversized shawl with pockets, I used a self-striping yarn – Caron Lovely Layers Cakes, available at Michaels stores! This is a worsted weight yarn that is 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool, and the Sugar Plums colorway inspired the name of this piece. How fitting for the season! If you prefer to avoid wool, you can substitute the worsted weight yarn of your choice.
Full of Interesting Angles
I really enjoyed creating the original stitch pattern repeat for the Sugar Plum Pocket Wrap, and seeing it progress in self-striping yarn! And then, I decided to turn the pattern on its side… and then work corner to corner for the pockets! By changing the angles, even more interest is added, for a lovely wearable design.

And it’s so cozy! The Sugar Plum Wrap is one size fits all, and it makes a wonderful comfort shawl. You can adjust the pockets for the height of the wearer, and every colorway is going to give a different effect!
The Sugar Plum Pocket Wrap is the Furls December 2020 Crochet Along! This means it’s a free pattern you’ll find on their site, released in three parts. (All parts will be at the same link so just click any of the dates below!)

I have been waiting or the pattern to drop and somehow, its not showing. I have gone on the Furls website, FB, even Ravelry and Part One is nowhere to be found. I wonder if I am doing something wrong or maybe not doing at all? I am logged in to the Furls website as well.

I’m so sorry Maria, there was a snafu and it went up late! It’s up now!

Hi Tamara! I have started on this beautiful project, but was curious as to whether or not there will be any how-to videos. I have participated in other CALs on other sites where how-to or tutorial videos were posted. I think that I am advanced enough with my skills that I should have no problems. Just curious. Thank you for such a beautiful pattern!

Hi Leah! There isn’t a step by step video, but I did do a live video of the stitch pattern repeat in the Furls Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/1007123088/videos/10220996667838870/ Thank you! 🙂

Apparently this video has been taken down. I’ve been trying all day (today is Dec. 10). I really need help understanding the fourth row.
