Hexagons are the hottest motif shape going right now - for blankets, stuffed animals, you name it! The African Flower Hexagon (linked below) is by far the most popular right now, and I did a roundup earlier this year featuring 10 free crochet patterns that use the African Flower motif. Prior to that, I'd also done a roundup of 10 free crochet patterns using all sorts of hexagons. But today I want to focus on the hexagon itself. Such a simple shape, usually just a hands-width when finished, but within those few rows there is so much variation! Here are the standouts: 10 free crochet hexagon patterns!

A great round-up of the popular hexies out there! As much as I like them, so far I haven't made a blanket with them, because I don't like the way the border looks. There are some alternatives given on different blogs, including half-hexies and crocheting in the gaps, but I haven't found the p-e-r-f-e-c-t solution yet - wouldn't that be another Challenge for you? A roundup of 10 alternatives to fill in the gap in the hex! 🙂

Now that's a thought! I like it, thanks Barbara! Don't know if it'll get to 10, but there should be a few!

Shoot, she must have taken it down. The Heirloom Hexagons are a different pattern. Thanks for letting me know!

In order to get the puffed daisy hexagon, you have to join a crocheting site, (which charges a fee) which is not based in the USA. Does anyone know how to get this pattern free? And in the USA?
Tamara Kelly
It looks like the designer switched it to paid, so it won't be free anywhere. Thank you for the heads up, I've added a note to the blog post!

Would you consider making a pattern and video tutorial for the crochet hexipuff
Tamara Kelly
I'm afraid it's not my pattern, so I can't do that as it would be an illegal copyright infringement.
