What Is Warm Up America?

Warm Up America is one of my favorite yarn-related charities. Last month, I designed the Moroccan Tile Rectangle - perfect for making and donating! These rectangles are assembled into blankets and donated - but of course, funds are needed to keep it running!

"Warm Up America! (WUA!) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1991 by Evie Rosen with the mission of mobilizing volunteers to knit and crochet afghans and clothing for those in need. The organization achieves its mission through several key initiatives:

• Promotion and Training: WUA! promotes, trains, and encourages both individuals and groups to participate in its program at a local level. By spreading awareness and providing guidance, the organization fosters a community of volunteers dedicated to its cause.
• Support Services: The foundation offers support and assistance to local volunteers by providing them with essential information and instructional materials. These resources empower volunteers to effectively contribute to WUA!'s efforts.
• Collection and Assembly: WUA! serves as a central collection point for the knitted and crocheted sections contributed by volunteers. The organization oversees the assembly of these sections into completed blankets and garments.
• Distribution: Once the items are assembled, WUA! coordinates with various charitable organizations and agencies to distribute them to homeless individuals and others in need. This ensures that the handmade items reach those who can benefit from them the most.

Through these initiatives, Warm Up America! continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals facing hardship by providing warmth, comfort, and support."

How Does Download To Give Work?

Now, Yarnspirations is stepping in to help, inspired every day by the passion of crafters and the millions of ways they enrich their communities! So they have come up with what has to be the easiest way to work with you to give. Every pattern downloaded through July 8th, 2024, will count towards the total amount that they will donate to Warm Up America!
