    A Bit About the Author

    Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet

Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet is Doneille's first book, and it debuts on August 26, 2025 - you get a sneak peek today!

"Donielle Broderick, “Creator of the Cuddly Slashers” and founder of Done by Donielle, is well-known and wildly popular for her amigurumi patterns and dolls, of which she has sold thousands through Etsy and other outlets. Doneille’s work has been covered by numerous major media outlets, though she’s best known for the overwhelming press she received in 2020 when she turned an image of Bernie Sanders sitting cross-legged wearing mittens at the presidential inauguration from a viral internet meme into a crocheted doll and “hot commodity.” Many of Doneille’s followers are celebrities, and she has created commissioned dolls for everyone from Emma Roberts (actress) to Rob Zombie (musician)."

Now let's sneak on in to Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet!

    Inside Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet

Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet: 20+ easy amigurumi patterns for scary creatures, cuddly slashers, zombie brides, dangerous dragons, and more! is a small but mighty paperback book with over 170 pages. Measuring just 8" x 8", it's a great size for throwing in your project bag!

"Calling all crafters and horror fans! Amigurumi artist and viral crochet sensation Donielle Broderick is set to debut her first book, Cute ‘N’ Creepy Crochet, hitting shelves on August 26, 2025. This step-by-step guide to spooky amigurumi brings a delightfully eerie twist to one of the craft world’s most popular trends.

Featuring 20 original crochet patterns, Cute ‘N’ Creepy Crochet teaches readers how to create scarily adorable creatures, from cuddly cryptids to sinister slashers and mythical monsters. Each pattern includes detailed, easy-to-follow instructions, vivid step-by-step photography, and special modifications to make the dolls in four different sizes—an innovative feature not found in other amigurumi books.

With a strong online following—over 52K on TikTok and 30K on Instagram—Broderick, known online as “The Creator of the Cuddly Slashers,” has already captured the attention of the crafting and pop culture communities alike. Her work has been commissioned by celebrities including Emma Roberts and Rob Zombie, and she went viral in 2020 for crocheting the famous Bernie Sanders mitten meme into a doll.

With full-color photography throughout, a saturated, eye-catching design, and patterns accessible for both beginners and experienced crocheters, Cute ‘N’ Creepy Crochet is set to be a must-have addition to every crafter’s bookshelf."

    Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet

Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet opens up with a section on reading crochet, the tools she uses, basic stitches, and finishing tips. One super important page in here goes over the yarns used. This is because each of the 20+ patterns in this book can be made in 4 sizes, depending on the yarn used!

    Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet

To make her Mini creations 9-11" tall, Donielle recommends a Bulky/5 weight yarn, like Bernat Velvet. For the Medium size, measuring 12-14", she uses Super Bulky/6 yarns like Premier Parfait Chunky. The third size is Large, and these creatures measure 16-18" and call for thicker Super Bulky/6 yarns like Bernat Blanket. Finally, the Jumbo size uses Jumbo/7 weight yarn to make pals that are 20-22" tall - Premier Parfait XL is a great example!

Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet: Review and Giveaway

The 20+ designs in this book are broken into 4 sections: Classic Creeps (Franky's Monster, Cozy Mummy, A Very Hairy Werewolf, Brainy Brian the Zombie, and Grim); Folklore Frights (Headless Horsemen, Baba Yaga, Lil Lizzie Borden, Doctor Plague, and Yarn Yeti); Modern Monsters (Classic Alien, The Faceless Man, Count Orlock, Creepy Clown, and Mothman); and Stat Block Scaries (Desi the Dragon, Grinning Gargoyle, Grimacing Goblin, Cuddle Cthulu, Ol' Baphy). The book finishes up with a super handy index, so you can find what you're looking for fast. With all these tips and patterns, there's a lot of good stuff in here!

Cute 'N' Creepy Crochet: Review and Giveaway

The patterns here are written in what I call "amigurumi style." Rather than using standard crochet written instructions or charts, this is a much abbreviated style. As such, you need to bring some crochet knowledge with you. For example, one Rnd reads "10sc, dec, 15sc, dec, 3sc" - in standard notation, that would read "Sc in the first 10 sts, sc2tog, sc in the next 15 sts, sc2tog, sc in the last 3 sts."

While there are a lot of great tips in here for amigurumi, and the patterns include tons of great full-color photos, I would recommend this book for those who have some familiarity with crochet already, and ideally with amigurumi. You need to be familiar with working in spirals, sewing, and following amigurumi-style instructions. It's a gorgeous book, and the patterns look like a lot of fun - you'll make adorably creepy gifts from these patterns, and the book makes a great gift as well!

Hi! This is super fun! Just letting you know that there are some inconsistencies in how you've spelled Donielle's name.
