The Crochet This! Review
Everyone Loves a Good Table of Contents
Particularly when the book has as much going on inside as Crochet This! There are 3 main sections in this book: Techniques Step-by-Step, the Stitch Dictionary, and the Projects. And all are impressively thorough and complete! Here’s a pic of that TOC – so much goodness!
We Start at the Very Beginning
Many crochet books include a few pages at the end, with a few simple line illustrations, demonstrating the basic crochet stitches. And that’s about it. But Crochet This! has one of the most comprehensive step-by-step guides to crochet I’ve seen!
Beyond the basic stitches, this book includes a breakdown of the parts of a crochet hook, and how yarn sizes work. There’s a section on how to read crochet charts, and finishing tips for more professional-looking projects. You’ll learn the finer parts of perfect color changes and 3 different yarny embellishments!
65 Essential Stitches – With Charts!
There is a great little stitch dictionary, smack dab in the middle of Crochet This! Each entry includes written instructions, crochet symbol charts, and fantastic full-color photos. The pages are even color-coded along the edges!
The Basics section goes beyond the simplest stitches and includes some fun variations. In Geometrics, there are lots of great motifs! The color keys are amazing, and the unusual bits are fantastically useful – these 65 entrees were really well chosen.
25+ Crochet Patterns by Fabulous Designers
As you saw in the Table of Contents photo above, there are crochet patterns from amazing designers included in this book! Candi Jensen, Mary Jane Hall, Jill Wright, Jennifer Hansen, Kaffe Fassett, Deborah Ohrenstein, Robyn Chachula… and the list goes on!
And it’s not just one type of pattern. There are accessories, garments, and home decor patterns included. And with such a great variety of patterns, there’s a huge range of styles and looks, with something for everyone!
