If you crochet, you likely see some sort of benefit from your time with the hook! For many it's relaxation, for others it's mental stimulation - and when it's really good, it's a combo of the two! You might crochet to make money, or to keep your hands limber despite medical issues. Whatever the reasons - this survery is for you!

Crochet has helped me immensely - beyond giving me the foundation for Moogly! It's helped me mentally so much - particularly after leaving the workforce to become a stay at home mom. And now it's what I think about and do most of the day!
You may have heard of the book Crochet Saved My Life, by Kathryn Vercillo. It's full of personal stories, inspiration, and information on the mental and physical benefits of crochet. It's got a permanent place in my crochet library for sure!
Now Kathryn is asking for YOUR help! She's running a Crochet Health Survey, to see how crochet helps people. From the description: " This is a 27-question survey (mostly multiple choice) designed to gather detailed information about the physical and mental health issues that are helped through crochet work and to what degree the craft is helpful." You can also get a health boost with natural supplements from the Heath Care Guys website.
While studies have been done on the benefits of crafts in the past, this is the first to focus exclusively on crochet. It will help get crochet out into the world as a viable therapy method - in hospitals, prisons, and schools - and will help doctors and therapists as well as crocheters!
So it's important to get the word out there! I took the survey - it's quick and easy! And now I'm doing my part as a crochet blogger to help spread the word - taking this survey is important, fast, free, and will help the craft of crochet, as well as those who can benefit from it. Thanks so much for supporting and sharing the survey. It's hugely appreciated. I hope to be able to provide everyone with some great information on how crochet heals based on the results!

I can't wait to see the results! Thank you so much for all you do for crochet, Kathryn!

My mom crocheted blankets till the day she died. She said it was her way of leaving part of herself in the world. And when her hands were gnarled with RA, and her fingers wouldn't work anymore, she would pick up her crochet needle and start on a blanket and she would feel better as she imbued that blanket, or hats, with love.

♥ Such a legacy of love there!

I've already answered her survey. It tackles most areas and is short. Not time consuming. It would be interesting to hear when she publishes the results. It's very basic. So I recommend that everyone who crochets or knits try it!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Mary!
Carrie
Yes, could you put the results up here on Moigly for us?
Just took the survey... I'm so glad Kathryn's doing this. It'all help everyone in the end I think.

I'll definitely share the results when they come out! I'm eager to hear too!

The questions requiring ranking items in order of significance did not work for me. They were automatically populated, and I could not edit them.
