At a recent craft show, I got a chance to meet the lovely lady behind Global Backyard Industries, and she introduced me to her Amigurumi Crochet Project Kits! There are two Cactus kits, and they are so cute – so let’s take a closer look, and then give a couple of these pretty kits away!

Global Backyard Industries is a fun website with a variety of crafty products on offer. And two of them are these super cute DIY Cactus Crochet Kits!
Each kit is for a different type of cactus – there’s the round ball cactus “Charley,” and the tall skinny cactus “Ruby.”
I decided to give Charlie a try – after all, according to the package, he “likes to snuggle”! The kit included everything I needed to get started – even the hook and yarn needle! The only thing I had to provide was scissors – impressive!
The instructions are written in an abbreviated way, but there are pictures and a video tutorial hosted by Vicky Howell! Just basic crochet skills are used, and the cactus can be finished in an evening.
And voila! Here’s my own little 6-inch cactus. Perfect for my own “black thumb!” (Real plants and I have a… difficult relationship…)
This kit was fast and fun to put together, and the finished cactus is super cute! Now I just need to make Ruby so Charley isn’t lonely!
