    A Long Time Coming!

I designed the Butter Ripple Crochet Afghan back in 2022, when Bernat Forever Fleece had just launched. I fell in love with the yarn's halo and buttery soft colors. But then the colors I used ended up cut from the roster! And I think they rethought the weight... read on...

Comparing the yarn in the blanket to the current version of Bernat Forever Fleece, I believe that it was actually made with Bernat Forever Fleece *Finer* - a Bulky/5 weight yarn. Later, Bernat Forever Fleece was launched as a Super Bulky/6 and the Finer version was added (and then discontinued...) and so this blanket got recorded as using the bigger yarn with too small a hook. I didn't realize this had happened until I went to make the video tutorials.

So now, I'm updating this pattern to call for any Bulky/5 if you want to use the sizing charts. But if you'd like to use the Super Bulky Bernat Forever Fleece, you'll want to bump up to an 8mm. Those blankets will also be a bit larger. I do apologize for the confusion - this one had my scratching my head for a minute there!

At the end of the day, you get to pick your own yarn and colors anyway! So, it's time for the Butter Ripple Crochet Afghan to finally see the light of day. It's too squishy to keep to myself any longer!

While I used 2 colors of yarn, you can of course go rogue here too - that's half the fun! Make the Butter Ripple Crochet Afghan a scrapghan, keep it all one color, it's up to you - and each choice will give it a new look.

    Not just a V stitch - a Deep V Stitch!

The Butter Ripple Crochet Afghan features simple stitches worked in interesting places, to great effect! I'm dubbing it a "Deep V" for this pattern, and it's all explained below. And in right and left-handed video tutorials! So it's great for motivated beginners, and it will be a relaxing, meditative make for experienced stitchers.

Here on Moogly, I like to include every size when it comes to blankets. And the Butter Ripple Crochet Afghan includes every size from Baby up to Cal King! I've also included the stitch multiple so you can customize it to any size you like. If you need help, or think there is a size I've missed, let me know so I can add it to the list!

Ready to get started? Check the chart below to see what size you want to make, gather your yarn, grab your crochet hook, and let's get stitching!

With the number of skeins needed, do we need more of one color than the other?

You will need a little bit more of the first color, so I always recommend over-buying and holding on to your reciept!
