I recently debuted the Fates Square - a free 6" crochet square pattern. It's fun to crochet, but like most squares, benefits from some blocking. So I was excited to give The Burlap Kitchen's Blocking Board a try!
I tried out The Burlap Kitchen's 6" Blocking Board, available HERE on Etsy. It comes complete with a handmade solid pine blocking board, 12 bamboo pins, and an instruction sheet showing the possible combinations. Because it isn't just for squares! You can do all the following shapes:
Squares from 2"-6" (0.5" increments)
Hexagons 3",4", 5" and 6" (1" increments)
Triangles 2", 3" and 4" (1" increments)
The bamboo pins are 5.75", which means you don't have to do just one at a time! I blocked my latest 3 squares all at once! Just got them wet, patted off the excess water, and then slid them onto the pins - easy peasy!
Then I gave them each a little tug on the sides, walked away, let them sit until I remembered them, and they came off beautifully!
The Burlap Kitchen's 6" Blocking Board was super easy to use, much faster than pinning the squares! And they've recently added a 12" version as well - perfect for the Crochet Along squares! It's next on my list for sure!
You do have to use a little bit of care with the bamboo pins - but there are lots included too. And putting them in pointy side up makes sliding the squares on easy! I love the hanging ribbon too - I just need to add a pouch for the pins... though I imagine it'll be in use for a long time to come, as I have many more squares to make!
