Is it the dog days of summer, or are you enjoying a beachy breeze? Either way, the yarn beckon! Can you hear it? Feel it in your bones? If you are heading to the store to re-supply then use the sales and coupons at the craft stores to save money. The weekly Crafty Coupon Roundup makes it easy!
Many of these sales only last through the weekend, so be sure to click on the name of the store for current prices if you’re shopping next week! Make sure too that you know your craft store policies – many take competitor’s coupons, and this can really pay off! Michaels
On the site, enter your zip code to get the coupons for the store closest to you. This week I got a coupon for 25% off the entire purchase – including sales items! Be sure to check your receipts – there are usually coupons printed at the bottom. Michaels has a mobile app with available coupons as well, so be sure to download that if you can. Sign up for the email newsletter, and Like Michaels on Facebook for more coupon opportunities.
There are summer clearance savings up to 70% throughout the store, and the only advertised yarn sale this week is the yarn clearance at up to 50% off.
If you have a student ID, July is Student Discount Month – you can get 20% off! The current flyer for includes a 40% off one item coupon and a 15% off your total purchase coupon, both good July 21 – 27. But open it up and Wow! It’s Coupon Commotion time again, July 14 – 20 – and thre are 4 different coupons you can use on yarn – all 50% off! There are also usually flyers inside the front door of the store, so always check the basket on your way in.
To get another Jo-Ann coupon, click the logo above, and at the bottom of the page under Shop, click on Store locator. Enter your zip code (if it doesn’t already show your nearest store). When you get the results, click on “More Store Information” and a link to a coupon will pop up. On the website there are more coupons, but they change quickly so check there before you shop. Be sure to sign up for the emails, their mailing list, text alerts, get the app, and Like Jo-Ann Fabrics on Facebook for even more deals.

Hobby Lobby has the usual printable coupon for 40% off any regularly priced item. There is an iPhone app and a new Android app that include the same 40% off coupon and ad info, and also have a feature that let you check gift card balances. You can now get the same savings on your non-Apple/Android smart phones by visiting m.hobbylobby.com and showing the cashier the coupon on your phone.
On sale through July 20th, you’ll find I Love This Yarn for $3.66 and Coats Classic Crochet Thread for $2.22.
Craftsy

Shop Craftsy Yarn Products Now! There are about 45 yarns on sale at Craftsy right now, at up to 70% off. The most popular ones on sale this week include Lion Brand Hometown USA, Cascade 220, Lion Brand Homespun, and Cascade Venezia. There are also lots of kits with patterns, and a Louet Drop Spindle Course Kit – complete with spindle! I know I’m not the only who’s toyed with the idea of spinning!
Herrschners
Herrschners is great for international shipping – they ship to dozens of countries! Too many to list here, you’ll have to check the website. While you’re there, you can get on their email list for notifications when they update their sales.
On the Yarn Sale page at Herrschners through July 24th, it’s Stash Builder Yarns, with 36 different yarns plus a Mix & Match Mill End Assortment Yarn Pack on sale! There are lots of Herrschner’s own brand, as well as Universal brand yarns on sale. ACMoore is remodeling their website, with online sales coming in 2014 – but for now you’ll have to visit one in person to shop there. To find the coupon and print it out, go to the Weekly Ad option at the top, and then click on the Coupons tab. This week’s coupon is for 50% any one regular priced item,expiring the 20th. Be sure to get the Rewards Card if you haven’t already, for more savings down the road!
Advertised yarns on sale this week include Lion Brand Homespun and Tweed Stripes at 2 for $8, and Red Heart Plush Baby, Buttercup, and Bernat Baby Coordinates all for $2.99 each. They have also started their back to school sales – eep! (I might be in denial on that one…)
Shopping online? Another great alternative to the above is Smiley’s Yarns, as well as Knitpicks, and WEBS. I’ve also heard lots of good buzz lately about Deramores, and they have both US and UK sites, with great shipping rates! Additionally, many manufacturers, such as Lion Brand, take orders directly. And they often run sales – sign up for their emails to keep up. And if you are lucky enough to have a local yarn store, be sure to shop there too if you can – small businesses need our support!
