Have you heard of Project Knitwell? If you believe in the therapeutic benefits of knitting, or would like to discover them for yourself, then this is the post for you!
Project Knitwell has the following mission statement:
“Project Knitwell is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the joy of knitting and its therapeutic benefits to people facing stressful situations. Project Knitwell volunteers provide knitting instruction and quality materials in an effort to foster wellness, comfort, and community among patients, family members, medical staff, and others facing difficult circumstances.”
Started by a mother who went through a child’s hospitalization, Project Knitwell operates primarily in the Washington DC area. But it has grown to a resource guide for young knitters and guidebook for those looking to start similar programs. It’s also helped with research on the therapeutic benefits of knitting! You can learn a lot more at their website, projectknitwell.org.
And now Project Knitwell and Lion Brand have put together The Comfort of Knitting: a How to Knit Guide for Caregivers & Families! I got to take a look at a copy of this book – it has great photo instructions on how to knit, as well as some gorgeous patterns. I even made one of the patterns – the Simple Slouch Hat! It was quick, easy, and very soothing indeed, made with just one skein of Heartland Thick & Quick. You can see the leftover bit in the photo! Perfect for beginning knitters, as well as those going through a stressful time.
Even better, Lion Brand is donating all of the proceeds from The Comfort of Knitting to the Alzheimer’s Association and Project Knitwell to support the special needs of caregivers. So to help promote the amazing Knitwell Project, Lion Brand is offering this giveaway here on Moogly!
THREE winners will each receive a copy of The Comfort of Knitting and a skein of Heartland Thick & Quick! This giveaway is open to US entries only, and ends 11/27/15 at 12:15am. All you need to do to enter is to enter your email address in the Rafflecopter form below – but since there’s three winners, it would be nice to also tell a friend!
Get Moogly on your favorite social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, G+, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr, and sign up for the FREE  Newsletter so you don’t miss a thing! This giveaway is sponsored by Lion Brand Yarn.
