The Caron Hourglass Crochet Hat and Cowl are made with Caron Colorama O'Go, and each includes 2 options for the colorwork - pick your color changes, or go with the flow! One skein per pattern means you have lots of options - I used the Blue Mustang colorway, but there are lots to choose from. In addition to the yarn, you'll need a 9mm crochet hook, or whatever gets you to gauge.

      Hi Tamara

I’m making the hourglass hat for my husband and I’ve done the gauge swatch (first time I’ve ever done one!!) which came out correctly at 10cm. However when I completed the 48 FDC’s for the first row, it was going to be much bigger than his (considerably north of average sized) head. If I reduce the number of stitches I start with, does it need to be a certain multiple of numbers to work?

Hi Teresa! This pattern uses a multiple of 8, so you could start with 40, or you could drop down a hook size or two for the brim!
