Last year was fantastic for me, but I had one big secret I had to keep for several months – and the cat is finally out of the bag! I am now a Craftsy Instructor! I’ve filmed one fantastic class, and I get to give away the class to one very lucky Moogly reader!

When Craftsy invited to me to come teach this class – later named “Quick and Easy Crochet Cowls” – of course I jumped at the chance! I love Craftsy classes and take them every chance I get! But I have to admit, there was a little bit of trepidation. As much as I love making tutorial videos, my hands are usually the only thing on camera. Could I really get in front of the camera… all the way in front?
Scary, but I had to say yes – I wasn’t going to miss such an amazing opportunity (deep breaths! deep breaths!)! So back in October I flew out to Craftsy headquarters in Denver, Colorado for a few days. And what an amazing few days it was! Filming from morning to evening, bright lights and tons of fun. They made it feel like the most natural thing in the world.
There were so many highlights of my time at the Craftsy studios. Hanging out with an amazing crew, getting my hair and makeup professionally done (thank goodness! for all of us!), and meeting other Craftsy instructors. The funniest part was when we figured out every one of the instructors there that week originally hailed from the same state, Illinois!
And while my time in Colorado was a crazy whirlwind, it had taken several months of hard work to get to that point. I was humbled by how much goes into each and every Craftsy class! Outlines, deadlines, step outs, demo pieces, lots and lots of phone calls and Google Hangouts, and even wardrobe shopping (turns out my blogger uniform of pajamas isn’t really camera ready). The staff at Craftsy walked me through everything and were always super super fun and easy to work with.
Even though I felt a sense of accomplishment when the class wrapped up filming, I kind of didn’t want it to be over. Sure, part of it was the mini-vacation of nights in a hotel room all to myself. But I loved my time at the Craftsy studios and hope I get to go back someday soon!
Of course, when I was done filming, the crew wasn’t done – they had to edit out (most of) my flubs and blunders… and hopefully some of the robot dancing. But at last the class is nearly ready to debut – and will do so later this month!
So I am just thrilled to finally be able to spill all the beans, and share what I’ve been up to! The class is called “Quick and Easy Crochet Cowls,” and is sponsored by the fabulous Lion Brand Yarn company. In the class I walk you through some fantastic patterns – all of which teach a variety of different techniques! If you’ve learned the very basics of crochet and are ready to really get into this hobby, it’s the perfect class to take.
My job for this class isn’t done either. As soon as the class debuts, I’ll be answering any questions and chatting it up right on the class platform on Craftsy – like all Craftsy classes, it’s all online, ready to be watched at your own pace. I can’t wait to see what you all think!
And while the class isn’t out just yet… I still get to give away one class enrollment to one lucky reader! So if you’d like to spend some time making cowls with yours truly, then…
Yep, just click the words up there. If you don’t have a Craftsy account (which is free!) or aren’t logged in, then you’ll have to create an account or log in… and then you’ll be entered! If you’re already logged in, then clicking is all you need to do. And because this class is all online, you can enroll from anywhere in the world – and the giveaway is open worldwide as well! So get back up there and click! The giveaway will end on January 11th at 11:59pm MST, and I’ll announce the winner on the 12th!
