I am happy to bring you a guest post from Lorene of Cre8tion Crochet! Lorene is one of the most motivated crochet bloggers out there, and recently became a designer for Darn Good Yarn – be sure to check Lorene’s site for a yarny discount code! Moogly is one of my favorite blogs to follow. I love how consistent Tamara is with posting on her blog. Blogging is a huge undertaking and many bloggers rarely take any time off for themselves. It is easy to get burnt out and we need to have some down time in order to refresh and stay motivated. Tamara is finally taking a week off to spend with her hubby and she needed some bloggers to help keep the blog running for the week. I am honored that I am one of those bloggers.
My name is Lorene Eppolite and I run Cre8tion Crochet. I started my blogging career in October 2012. Prior to that I had my blog for about 6 months but it never got past posting a couple free patterns. I used to primarily focus on selling my finished crochet work and that was originally the purpose of hosting my own blog. My passion soon changed from selling to wanting to use my experiences to help fellow crafters.
As a former seller I know exactly what it is like to own your own crochet business and how hard it can be to overcome the obstacles involved with being successful. Owning your own business is never easy but sadly many people who purchase from crochet artists feel that it is just a hobby and that it isn’t worthy of high prices. Nothing could be further from the truth. All artists pour their heart and souls into their finished work and crochet is a skill not everyone is capable of.
My focus at Cre8tion Crochet is to help fellow artists and crafters to have successful businesses of their own. I offer free patterns and video tutorials as well as articles on selling your crochet, owning a successful business, blogging and ways to stand out in the sea of crochet artists.
I am also launching a live weekly online show, Cre8tion Crochet Live, where the focus will be geared towards helping my followers achieve a profitable crochet business. The tentative maiden episode is set for Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 at 9pm EST. For more information on the show you can become a fan of the Cre8tion Crochet Facebook page.
Recently I began my Selling Your Crochet Series. This is a multi-part series designed for anyone who wants to start, or already owns, their own crochet business. Whether you are just starting out or need to improve sales for a business you already have, this is the guide for you. Currently there are two installments. Deciding What to Sell and Determining your Target Market. A new article will be posted every Monday. After this series is completed I will be starting the Owning Your Own Crochet Blog Series.
You can also check out Selling Your Handcrafted Crocheted Items in Retail Boutiques. My patterns are always available for you to sell your finished items from. I would love to hear from you and know what you would like to learn about. Whether it be a pattern or technique you would like to see or a business question that you have, feel free to comment on a blog post or on my fb page. I look forward to hearing from you about how I can help you with your crochet or craft business.
Have fun and as always…
happy hookin’
