Triangle crochet edging is a little pattern I came up with for edging blankets and... well, anything you want to put an edge on! It's used in the Go Team Colors Baby Blanket, and in the Go Team Colors Reversible Baby Hat (due out this Friday, I'll update with a link then).
The written pattern for the triangle crochet edging, for edgings divisible by 4:
Ch 1 and sc in the 1st st. *Skip 2 sts, dc 2 in the next st. Ch 1, and work 2 sc around the post of the 2nd dc just made, working down the post towards the base. Sc in the next st. Repeat from * around, ending the last repeat with a sl st or seamless join in the first sc of the round. Break yarn and weave in ends.
Here's a video demonstration:
The triangle crochet edging is a great alternative to lacier edgings, making it a perfect gender neutral choice. It's bold and geometric and because of how it's made it goes around corners like a dream, with no need to add a stitch to fit. In the video I outlined how to fit it on edges with stitch counts divisible by 4 and 5, but you could do it on edges divisible by 3 as well, just skip one st instead of 2. It's simple and easy as can be, so have fun with it! I can't wait to see what you all make with it!

Just a quick note. Your pattern is really nice. I plan to use it soon.
But please note that your written instructions do not mention 2SC around the DC post. So you should fix that, please. But the video showed exactly how to do it.
Thanks!!!

Oops, thanks Maria! I'll have to take a look at that!
Corine
Thank you! This just saved a very very long scarf whose edge stitch had gone wonky after blocking. I'm currently edging it with this and it looks brilliant!
Tamara Kelly
Oh cool! Glad to hear it Corine!

Thanks for the nice triangle edging! I'm teaching myself to crochet while edging fleece baby blankets for a pro-life organization. Your tutorial is very much appreciated.
Tamara Kelly
😀 Thanks Artmom!

This was exactly what I was looking for to edge my son's fleece blanket. Thanks so much as always for your work 🙂

😀 Thank you so much M!

I'm so happy you published this triangle edging tutorial. I had been wanting to create a sun coaster but the rays around the outside never looked right. I was able to modify your pattern to create the rays, and the result is just what I was looking for. You're a great instructor, and I enjoy your site.
Tamara Kelly
Fantastic! 😀 Thank you Stephanie!

I'm really excited to use this stitch to finish off my bath mat. So I read through this and watched the video. I understand the stitch but I'm looking for more information about how to work around the corners. Is it just a slip stitch? Thanks for your help! You have given me the confidence to take on new and creative projects! I am now obsessed!!!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you Rachael! Putting two triangles in the space of one can work to get around the corners, or just making the stitch a little smaller. A lot depends on your own gauge, and playing with it a bit to get the look you want is really the key!
Mary
Thank you for this pattern. I made a triangular prayer scarf and this edging is perfect for it. Love his website.
Tamara Kelly
😀 I'm glad to hear it, thank you!

I was looking for an alternative to fringe. This easy-to-do pattern looks just great on the scarf I crocheted (chains & scallops). Perfect! Thank you Tamara!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you so much Cheryl!

I've been searching for an edging for a baby boy's blanket that is otherwise done. This looks perfect! I'd already prepared it for one with a "4 + 3" multiple , but I didn't like it. I'll make it work. Thanks for giving me alternate multiple options!
Tamara Kelly
😀 I'm so glad you like it, thank you!
Theresa
Just used the this to finish a baby blanket for a boy. Looks great!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you! 😀

There is no video like it says.. I would like to see the demo please.l
