Paper Plates and Cloth Napkins

I waver. I commit. I fail. I decide that goddammit, I’m hot, and if turning on the AC is going to raise the ocean levels, I’ll make sure the kids know how to swim. Then I send Queenie and the Producer to the store to return 201 empty cans. I recycle the toilet paper tubes, but throw away ziploc bags and moldy food containers. I watch An Inconvenient Truth while changing Bon Bon’s disposable diaper. I suck.
The Producer is full of green zeal. He collects rainwater in a barrel to water the plants. He makes us walk places. He has a superhero costume with “Al’s Army” emblazoned across the chest that he wears when we’re alone, and we roleplay “Environmental Hero and the Sexy Polluter.”
I want to be an environmental hero, but…I’m lazy. So the one thing the Producer has gotten me on board for is switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs. Even so, I was wary until we actually tried one out.
And it was awful - harsh and blue. Completely unbearable. So back to the store it went.
Luckily, I decided to try to figure it all out, and give CFLs another chance. A lot of research later, I realized that the first bulb we bought was the wrong color temperature. So back to the store to buy the right bulb…and we love it! Sure, it takes a few minutes to warm up to full strength, but it’s no biggie.
So my experience prompted me to write an article about Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs, so I could share what I’ve learned. Hope you enjoy it! Feedback welcome!
Now maybe I can stop wearing the mustache.
Also, I’ve decided to try to include a freebie of the day, because who doesn’t love free stuff?
