Get thee to a Michaels! There are some gorgeous new Lion Brand Yarns there that aren't to be missed! (And I'm working with Lion Brand to show them off here on Moogly!)
Disclaimer: This post was sponsored by Lion Brand but all opinions are my own.
So just a few days ago I was in my local Michaels in Davenport Iowa, and I spotted a special display of Lion Brand Yarns featuring some very exciting GIANT balls of yarn: Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundles, Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Bonus Bundles, and Thick & Quick Bonus Bundles! Lion Brand Bonus Bundles are just ideal for one skein projects - and who doesn't love a LOT of yarn?!
I love big balls of yarn and I cannot lie. Also, if you live in Iowa and heard a rumor about a slightly excited lady taking photos in the yarn aisle... that was me. Probably.
Wool-Ease Thick & Quick has been one of my favorite yarns for years, and last year I snagged a Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Bonus Bundle to design my Celebration Wine Bag. If you follow my designs, you know I do love one skein projects!
This year the Bonus Bundles are back, with some gorgeous colorways - 12 in all. The display near me had clearly been very popular, but there were still lots of balls to choose from!
One colorway that had sold out at my store that day was City Lights - I have a brand new pattern using this one, so keep an eye out for it at your own local Michaels! It's so pretty! They will be restocking and shipping more yarn too - so be sure to keep checking back if you like to shop in person (or order now at Michaels.com or LionBrand.com of course!).
But there are even more unique colorways too - these two really caught my eye! In total there are 7 new Bonus Bundle colorways this year - City Lights, Petrol Blue, Spice Market, Bedrock, Urban Camo, Slate, and Cranberry.
One of the yarns I've only recently been introduced to is Lion Brand Touch of Alpaca - so I loved seeing Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundles! This yarn is so warm and fuzzy, I just love the texture!
I've never seen such big balls of alpaca yarn - this is a real find! (And I'll have a pattern using this gorgeous stuff next week.)
If you haven't had a chance to check out Touch of Alpaca yet in person, then definitely head to Michaels ASAP - and experience the yum in person! They have 12 gorgeous colors in stock to choose from!
The other side of the display featured Thick & Quick Bonus Bundles! Thick & Quick is another new Lion Brand Yarn - currently only available in Bonus Bundle size. Also very popular, judging by the display! Good thing they're getting more!
Thick & Quick is such a great addition to the Lion Brand line - very similar in looks and feel to Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, but 100% acrylic. Perfect for those who love the look of the Wool-Ease version but prefer to avoid wool! (And there might be an upcoming Moogly pattern with that one too!) Currently, it's available in 8 colors.
Every trip to Michaels is exciting (and a little dangerous) - I never know what will hop in my cart! Both Touch of Alpaca Bonus Bundle and Thick & Quick Bonus Bundle yarns will be available exclusively at Michaels and Lion Brand through April 6, 2018 - so grab them while you can!
All of these yarns can be found at 840 Michaels stores across the country, so stop into yours to see what's available near you. If you don't have a Michaels near you, you can check out each of these yarns online at Michaels.com and LionBrand.com.
Oh, and I spotted this on the display too - so fun! See you at Michaels!

The closest Michaels is more than 100 miles away, Tamara, so I'll just have to enjoy your photos and eagerly await the patterns you produce with these lovely yarns. So glad I have your blog to shop vicariously. 🙂
Tamara Kelly
Aw, thank you! What a bummer on the distance - luckily they are all available online at Michaels.com and LionBrand.com too. 🙂

I love your patterns SO much, and would love to know how many skeins and how many colors we'll need for your upcoming ones using these yarns, so I can buy enough to complete them. Especially excited about the alpaca blend! Thanks, and Happy New Year!
Tamara Kelly
Thank you so much Becky! I just put up the Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Bonus Bundle pattern set (both with just one ball!): https://www.mooglyblog.com/city-lights-hat-and-mitts-set/
The Touch of Alpaca pattern will take a total of 2 Bonus Bundles in 2 different colors (1 of each color), and the Thick & Quick Bonus Bundles project calls for a total of 4 balls in 2 colors (2 of each color). 🙂

I'm using Touch of Alpaca right now! Great yarn to work with; the texture is wonderful for the scarf I'm making. I love that Michaels is carrying the large skeins.

😀 I'm glad to hear you like it too! And yes, the bigger the better! (Well, up to a point I guess hahaha!)

Where can I get a poncho pattern without a cowl neck and with a triangle front that I could use with this thread ?
Tamara Kelly
Hi Wilma! I don't have anything quite like that myself, but have you checked Ravelry? https://www.mooglyblog.com/find-patterns-ravelry/
Elizabeth
Hey there,
I just love your patterns and creations, you do such wonderful work.
I can't wait to try the Touch of Alpaca yarn. I want to make a baby blanket. Do you know if this yarn can be regularly washed if it gets spills on it
Tamara Kelly
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you! The label says machine wash, lay flat to dry. 🙂
