Just call me Joan

So our little Bon Bon is not so little these days. He is now 9 months old, highly mobile, and has developed quite the personality. He is affable, good-natured, impatient, curious, chewy, giggly, loyal, devoted, chatty, and most of all, dramatic. Such high drama from a little baby boy. No small thoughts or emotions here, we’re livin’ large.

Although fully mobile, he moves by a quick snaky army crawl, keeping his belly down and swimming across the hardwood floors. He does get up on his hands and knees a few times a day, and makes quite a show of it, yelling and shrieking so that everyone sees. But 90% of the time, his elbows get him where he wants to go. Except when they don’t. Sometimes, life is just too too exciting. And when life is too exciting, he forgets his snaky skills, and ends up pushing himself backwards, away from his goal. As you can imagine, this is…erm… frustrating for the lil guy, and accompanied by some tears. And the saddest thing - he will look you in the eyes, tears falling from his eyes, mouth contorted with knowledge of his own impotence, and put his face straight to the floor, arms splayed out around his head. Life is just. too. much. some days.
And at these moments, it is really hard for a mommy who spends too much time cooped up with small kids, to stifle her own giggles. Mean? Maybe. But it is just too too.
Boy-o is also developing into his own little man. We were so worried when he didn’t talk at 1… or 2… Well, apparently he just didn’t have anything to say. He has since burst out in full sentences, knows most of his basic colors (yellow and orange can still be a challenge), knows a few letters and numbers, and astounds me daily by using words I had no idea he knew. He’ll be 2 1/2 in March.

Of course, with this guy, the drama is guaranteed. Especially if you miss Dora. Or suggest a haircut.
FREEBIE OF THE DAY: What’s a show without a snack? And this one says it’s good for your heart - a cause that is close to mine.

I can’t believe how big they all are.
And that boy-o reminds me of mine. This is a fun, fun age isn’t it?
